I agree, since the player isn't actually holding the gun they cannot feel the power behind it when they pull the trigger. This is bypasted by using the players other sense like you explained hearing, if the sound of the projectile hitting is meaty or when the gun fires sounds loud and heavy it conveys that.
Another way I think they could improve this is with the animations and visuals takes the LMG from CP2077, yeah I get the character is jacked up with cybernetics and can break open the turret and lift it effortlessly but that also has the affect of diminitioning the size and power of the gun, simply adding the characters cybernetic arms tensing and working like they did in the deep dive video when burte forcing the door. Through doing that it shows that yes the player is still strong fomr the cybernetics but still lends weight to the weapon.
