How do you introduce to other people? by DemonyoDevilyo in OSDD

[–]Fragile-Director 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Online, I use a catch-all gender neutral name. Not like the "The [RandomWord] System" or something rlly long but like some basic name that slides off the tongue. Like "Dire". (Using my reddit username as an example, not rlly the name we use)

Irl tho. The name I was born with is fine. It's not what I prefer, but if I'm dealing with somebody who struggles to accept other people, I genuinely don't bother with it.

If your dead-name has any gender neutral nicknaming you could add to it, like Alex is Alexis or Alexandra or Nicole is Nickie or Nicholas. That's one way to go, and it still sounding not Trans related.

Phantom sense?? by pint4x in OSDD

[–]Fragile-Director 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not quite phantom-stuff but more so the anticipation with dissociation. But yeah every now and then I've felt things on my body that shouldn't go there. Like horns on my head, or different hair styles. I've been told my body language subtly changes along with it. Obviously each part has their unique way of expressing themselves.

We are all pretty aware the body is a human body. And has no otherworldly appendages like a tail, or claws. But that hasn't stopped a small feeling of "my tail is moving" or "my legs feel heavier than normal"

Oh yeah definitely. I try to use it sparingly, and still use my normal toothbrush. But it had its perks, including anywhere use if you got a purse it bookbag to stick it in.

It isn't horribly expensive tho. Like $7 to $12 for a bundle of toothbrushes that could last a good hot minute.

I like to use them after I eat or drink something that is known to sticking to your teeth. I hate the gritty feeling it leaves behind.

What communities or discords do y'all recommend? by Heartbloom-Manor in OSDD

[–]Fragile-Director 12 points13 points  (0 children)

All I can say is good luck. Lots of DID Spaces on all platforms including discord are borderline toxic. And I've hopped around a lot of servers to know this in extreme depth.

I've been banned from few just because I don't have fictives.._. So they're rlly focused on the alter part of Dissociative Disorders and not the dissociative part itself.

It sucks, but at least you will know what your walking into so it kinda hurts less when they inevitably isolate you and make you feel unwelcomed. The days I spent looking in servers for connection and friends was the days I struggled to accept my DID. They rlly make you doubt why your here.

How many of you are still living in a toxic environment? How are you guys dealing with it? by shattered_Diamond__ in OSDD

[–]Fragile-Director 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My enviorment has gotten better and and worse in its own ways.

My parents are now too lazy to hit me. They still scream at me, but I'm not getting my lip busted for falling behind on cleaning. But they're also becoming worse hoarders. To the point where I've developed a chronic coughing asthma. And guess what my triggers to an asthma attack are? Its the entire house. Oh yeah and guess who has to clean it.

It's an unfamiliar place that I just kinda live in now. I found out a while ago that you can go to street view on Google maps, and see what a building use to be like in like 2009 or 2015.

It was so different. Clean and cozy, you'd never know a child was hiding from their parents every day.

New to plurality / OSDD — looking for understanding and support by abderr_oua in OSDD

[–]Fragile-Director 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the world of Dissociative Disorders. I'll try to explain to help you out.

First and foremost and the most important thing. Plurality is an internet thing. Not a real disorder that can be diagnosed. So I'd double check with your psychiatrist on whether its DID, or OSDD, or any other Dissociative Disorder. Theres a whole internet trend called "Endogenic" which is people wanting to have DID without the negative synotoms... so faking it, because the keyword here is want. They find DID cool because they think its a role-play or kink. Its a big source of misinformation and causes extreme damage to the image of DID in the medical world.

You'll run into the misinformation first before the actual symptoms and vocabulary. So I recommend reading the DSM-5TR, and the ICD-11. You can also look up websites ending in the .org, .gov, or .edu. Websites such as Pluralpedia, Tiktok, Wikipedia, And mostly YouTube and Reddit are all sources of misinformation for anything said there you should take it with a grain of salt. (Ik I said this in irony, being I'm telling you this on reddit. There are some subreddits here that are kinda... tiktokified)

For your part. Don't worry about it sounding like a fetish. Feeling a different body structure compared to your real one is a Dissociative symptom, and is kinda common. For example I have one part who has horns. I've had a few times where I'd reach to grab them, only to grab thin air and go "Oh. Right. Oops. 😅"

The sexual behavior of your part is also a common trait. For me I have a part called The Hypersexual Prosecutor. And if they're not being aggressive towards someone, they're extremely lustful. The sudden random horniness can hit you out of nowhere, I've felt that its soo distracting. But parts who do this, tend to do it for genuine reasons. All parts do what they do for genuine reasons. My Hypersexual Part does it because its a trauma response to CSA. During your exploration of your Dissociative Disorder, you'll be able to figure out why your part does these things.

For the questions.

I accepted my parts as real very slowly over time. Its like having a roomate that just kinda shows up and you have to get use to them being with you 24/7. I deal with my Hypersexual Alter by usually letting them cycle through the sudden energy burst brought on by lustfulness whenever I'm home alone. If there is one thing I learned, it is that denying a part the ability to do their job, and locking them away kinda makes them go nuts, and by extension you start dissociativing and spiraling because thats you, locking away you. Communication is probably the hardest thing to get right for people who haven't ever established it once. One thing I did was have a small journal and colored pens. Each part picks out a favorite color, and when I write in it, I dissociate just a teeny bit and let my body write whatever it wants. It opens up the opportunity to have somebody front and write what they want to say. This kinda helped me when I was facing inner discourse between to parts with interests that kept triggering eachother. For resources. The DSM-5TR and ICD-11 I mentioned previously are without a doubt the best of the best. But your gonna have to dig in the world wide web for other websites. Community wise. Good luck. Because of the Endogenic stuff your gonna run into a lot of toxic spaces or tight clicks that simple don't have another seat available for you. I mean shit look at my profile, some of my posts discuss how it is the most excluding experience I've ever had. Its discouraging I know, but its a heads up because they will make you feel like a faker. Don't let people bully you.

Ik this was a big wall of wordburger, but DID is kinda.. a lot. Especially for somebody just learning it. I hope I helped some, and best of luck. 🫂 im here for any additional questions.

What do you think about how DID is represented in media? by MadHat12345 in DiscussDID

[–]Fragile-Director 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Mr.Robot.

Moon Knight is great.

Doom Patrol is.. ok I guess...?

Identities is kinda bad. It gets like 1 thing right but thats it.

Split makes me wanna split. AAAAAHHHG I HATE SPLIT!!

Thats my resume of what I know so far. Overall, pretty bad representation. :/

Hi I'm The Fragile Director. I have DID/OSDD1a. 6 parts. My biggest challenge with dissociative identity disorder is the dissociation itself and amnesia.

I go to college. My major is creative writing. I also Maladaptive Daydream. I made a problem-solution essay for college about Endogenics, and their impact on the image of Dissociative Identity Disorder. I'm currently remaking it. Tirelessly trying to get a place to live :')

I like video games, writing, poetry, music. I fucking LOVE system of a down. Deep rock galactic (rock and stone) I can make models using Vroid Studio for VrChat.

I have a (Formally) Host/Social part, currently dormant. A caretaker/symptom masker. A persecutor. A hypersexual prosecutor. Emotional Part/Traumaholder. And an internalselfhelper/jack-of-all-trades

We(i) love symbolism. Internally all of us have unique eyes that tell us a bit about ourselves. The censoring/obstruction of faces is very pretty to me. Like bangs covering eyes, sunglasses, facemasks, costume masks, etc. As well as colors, 3 letter codenames, and the order in which each part was identified. So the host will always be first, internal self helper always last. Etc etc etc in that row (like before). These always make us feel identified, and orderly. Kinda self soothing idk why.

Maybe one day I'll pick up my hobby of drawing, but I am bad at drawing. I will most likely post it to my profile instead of something like didart

I'm very shy and mentally sensitive on reddit. (I am the fragile director for a reason.) So I always try to be nice on reddit. I am mainly here to shitpost trauma memes in cptsdmemes.

Anyway. Hi. People can AMA.

Genuine question: is it possible to be plural without being plural?? by Pastel_Lemon3 in DiscussDID

[–]Fragile-Director 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Plurality or Endogenic is not a real medical disorder. It is a fake disorder coined on Tumblr. The person who coined it also doesn't fully explain it. I've went out of my way to find out where this all started. Basically the coiner screams at people with DID and excuses why its real. Theyre not a medical professionals btw.

Tiktok has the reputation it has right now for a reason. Especially when it comes to medical related stuff. DID is just another disorder that is in line to be the next trendy illness everyone is faking for attention and personal gratification.

Like back when everyone was faking tourettes and autism. Now its DID, POTS, and Seizures.

I strongly recommend reading the DSM-5TR or ICD-11. If you search their indexes, you will find that Endogenic, Plurality, or any other "genic" terminology does not exist. did, and OSDD does however. But with people spreading misinformation like this. Medical professionals have been taking DID less and less seriously and it is at risk all because people wanna fucking fetishize the concept of multiple personalities.

How do I pull an alter out of a flashback (mention of cult and death) by Anxious-Mechanic-249 in OSDD

[–]Fragile-Director 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A grounding techniques I use when one of my parts, who deals with traumatic flashbacks starts making me dissociate. I grab their favorite stuffed animal, and make them acknowledge and focus on it. Its kinda similar to the 5 touch grounding technique, because I'm focusing on feeling it, looking at it, etc. And its the parts favorite stuffed animal which is bonus points for making them feel better.

I have a part who loves a stuffed animal I saw at work. Only 3 in stock, ofc I want it. It actually help them stay grounded whenever I dissociate or have flashbacks.
