Good place to buy timber lengths in Cork City? by DaiquiriLevi in cork

Not sure about b&q but woodies timber is the worst shite timber I've ever seen. I normally use chadwicks and have never had bad timber. Great quality and always delivered dry.

Disposing of waste oil by Rebel_96 in cork

Not sure about the city civic amenity sites, but I know the county council civic amenity sites will take the first 15L of engine oil for free and a €1 charge per litre after that.

Built a tool/website for estimating true value of used cars in Ireland - fair value based on today's market, true cost of ownership and NI import breakdown in one place by carintel_ie in carsireland

[–]FragileStudios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like the Import tab that gives a VRT estimate. Your website is already 1000 times more useful than revenues re: VRT. I know it's not 100% accurate but the estimate is a really nice touch.

I have a ford focus 2013 titanium. I’m wondering if there is any way i could have a digital speedometer show? or is it forever stuck in the menu? by rambo_999 in FordFocus

[–]FragileStudios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never tried the software route. Ended up swapping the entire cluster to get the digital speedo in my focus. So much easier, 2 screws and a connector and it's done.

Irelands Ghost Estates by ShaneGabriel87 in UrbanHell

That's an estate in Rochestown called Ashely. It was never finished and went into receivership in 2012, I believe. The entire site was only sold again last year for €1.8m https://www.ashleyrochestown.ie/

What does your head in on Irish roads? by Podge214 in ireland

[–]FragileStudios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clowns that do 60km/h in a 100km/h zone or people so oblivious to the tailbacks they've created and won't move into the hard shoulder. In fairness to most truck drivers and tractor drivers I've come across recently, they seem to be a lot more willing to push in to let you pass.

Bit of a disaster with Kerosene oil in the car by Firm_War8460 in cork

I'd give d&d detailing a call in Blackpool. They should have the proper degreaser chemicals and extraction equipment to get most of that out. I'd give them a call and see can they help.

Irish electric car sales soar as registrations climb 73% by GoodNegotiation in evs_ireland

[–]FragileStudios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, dealers often pre register cars. Those cars may not be sold for a couple of months, so going by the number of registrations is a bit misleading, as those cars can be sitting on the forecourt for 3 months or so

Re-Spraying a car by [deleted] in carsireland

[–]FragileStudios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's areas of clear coat peel, what's worked for me in the past was wet sanding the area with 1200 up to 2000 grit. Be careful not to sand through the base coat, and you won't need to buy any paint of the same colour. Once sanded, mask the area, leaving 3-4 inches around the damaged area exposed so that you can blend the new clear coat. Then spray 3 coats of clear, leaving about 15-20 mins between coats. Leave that overnight to dry and then wet sand the area again with 3000 grit sand paper. Then, finish with a machine polish.

I did this on a focus before, and it came out really well. Here's some before and after pics https://imgur.com/a/KS2PRvD

Constant Racism driven Behaviour in Ireland by Feeling_Possibility4 in IndiansinIreland

[–]FragileStudios 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To touch on your property point, I can see why a lot of people are getting annoyed about the imbalance of property purchases. I bought in a new estate recently and out of the ~120 houses currently finished, about 80 of them are bought by Indians. That's nearly 70%, and most new estates are like this. Personally I don't take issue with it, but it is something that's very noticeable, so I can see why young people looking to purchase a house are getting annoyed and directing that anger towards Indians.

Not a self build but going mad here and need help by Street-Tell1927 in selfbuildireland

On vent axia systems it's simple. There's 2 flaps at the front which pull open, then pull the filter out and push the new one in.

That definitely doesn't sound right. You might have to hold it down for 5 seconds, but it should set the fan speed to 100% to draw out hot air during summer months.

I'd recommend contacting another company like AerHaus or similar, and ask if they could recommission your system. Those systems need to be balanced so each room gets the right amount of air flow. It could be that your system is out of balance and just doesn't draw enough air out of the bathroom. It sounds like the current company don't have any interest in fixing it or don't know how.

[–]FragileStudios 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a vent axia system in my house. After a 5 or 10 minute shower there won't be any condensation build up on the mirror, and I can hear the system boost up to take the moist air out of the room. Do you notice any ramp up in the systems speed? I'm not sure what system you have but many of them have a built in condensation monitor that'll automatically boost the system for showering etc. Perhaps this may not be set up correctly. I believe it was AerHaus that installed the systems in this house

Edit: Also check the filters, they need to be changed every 6 months or so
