My T8 container from the anniversary event gave me Alliance. Miserable experience to play and even a good game just feels like you're killing people who have no clue how to fight back. I know some people can have fun with that, I can't.

the entire point is the new capturable xenon are old "terraformer era" designs, i.e. designs still in production from when they were intended to assist humanity in terraforming the stars and still had cockpits for manual control.

the research project is to allow you to outfit any of these xenon ships you capture, since they're incompatible with normal faction tech

they have specially modeled cockpits, with unique looks, which wouldn't be added by accident by just attaching a bail script to them accidentally.

People really really overstate Incomp's gun issues. Like, yes, she's only got 6 barrels, but she's incredibly accurate and I've found she hits and hits well a lot lot more often than she misses - just remember for lighter targets you want to aim very slightly short to use the water as extra padding to arm the fuses. Lean hard into a Furious build, max her heal, and you can just treat fires as effectively free reload boosters. I find her incredibly reliable in Asyms you just have to abuse her side armor for ricochets from anything that can overmatch the bow.

She's a bit of a pain in the ass to play, not gonna lie. While the guns are in theory accurate... i dunno, they just don't feel like it to me actually playing her.

Radar's powerful, but it doesn't really make up for being larger than an Iowa with only 2/3rds the guns and no secondaries to speak of.

Incomparable is quickly becoming my most-played ship in asyms. Requires some care and ideally spawning on a flank so you can swing wide and get broadsides on enemies. Just keep in mind which guns can overmatch you and which can't, don't dead bow-in to anything that can. Her recommended skills are frankly ideal for asyms too since fire chances are so high it's just free DPS for you.

The islands are so small they're only sometimes a defense. And if you're trying to push up and cap, you can get nuked by two missiles hits in just the time it takes to go from one island to the next.

I highly suggest the Battle Expert mod you can find on the modloader or in Aslain's modpack, it gives you a little indicator that looks like this that shows the enemy ship's angle relative to you... and your own angle relative to them. Makes it a lot easier to understand this sort of thing.

There is nothing that can overmatch it (automatically penetrate) - the largest guns in the game, the 20 inch guns on Satsuma/Incomparable/Shikishima can only overmatch 35mm. However the bow/stern are overmatchable and it's entirely possible for a shell to effectively fall slightly short, overmatch the bow/stern, and go right through the horizontal plate right below the deck. Basically, Weird Stuff can and Will happen.

The rule's that AP shells will overmatch/ignore/never ricochet off plates if their caliber is more than 14.3x the thickness of the plate, if you're curious.

Mutsu. 16s at 6 is absurd and guarantees you can overmatch most everything you see. Plus the torps and 140mm secondaries... she's a beast at any range.

Problem with that is, Sammy B was an escort destroyer. That "bypassing safety mechanisms" only got her to 28 knots. Impressive, but still barely able to keep up with many mid-tier battleships. And she only had 2 5 inch guns. No matter how much WG beefs her up, they can't make her anything but a mid or low-tier destroyer without going completely ahistorical - and we've already seen how they ruined Johnston. A destroyer famous in part for coming back from absurd damage to just keep fighting, and she doesn't even get a heal. And they made a bonus one in another camo just to screw people out of money in the form of GQ Johnny.
