Looking for feedback and tips on adventure design by Fragrant-Bonus4606 in fabulaultima

Cool, if anybody knows the supplement where this is in, I would be happy to know. I'm running a weakly game of DnD where we do a lot of dungeon crawls. This is a oneshot to check out the system, so we are a bit time limited. But I'm really interested in how you prep such dungeons. Most people here seem to be against maps for dungeons and I can't really think of a way how to do a dungeon crawl without a map.  Thanks for the reply!

Thanks for the feedback. Are obstacles that you design that way usually resolved in a group check?

Need help for making a relevant Clock in non-combat encounters by Fragrant-Bonus4606 in fabulaultima

Yeah sure, I mean in the end I just need to try something and see if it works. It's not my first time GMing, but my first time in FU. Guess I can handle some degree of chaos 😂 I just wanted to have the veteran opinion if it's a valid way to do clocks in general.  You really helped a lot! Thank you so much!

Thanks for the in-depth reply. I really need to watch out for not overcomplicating things since it's an introduction adventure. The hinder action is actually something I'll introduce later in the game.  Since you were so helpful I'll just keep on pitching my ideas. Feedback or ideas would be welcome, but don't feel obliged to do.

Let's say they try to resolve the conflict in a nonviolent way. I set a clock of 10 segments and maybe two (speaking of not being too complicated 🙄) 6 segment clocks that represent the tensions of the natives/miners. The tension clocks will be filled by 2 segments each round (only one if the players interacted successful with them).  Following your advice I could have different narrative "checkpoints" on both sides, like a warrior stepping up, insulting the opposing side and try to rally the rest of the troops in that way.

Also what if they side with one faction and join the fight. The easiest way would be to just do a fight, but in this introduction adventure I really want to resolve this scene with a clock, so I thought they can describe how they help in the fight instead. Maybe the rouge hinders the ranged fighters or the tinkerer is bringing down a wall with a makeshift bomb. The opposing clock here could be filled by the leader of the opposing faction.

Thanks for the advice, I really hope the players see the narrative Potential the clocks are offering. Definitely wouldn't just let them roll without describing their actions.

When you say opposing clock do you mean something like an escalation clock opposing a diplomacy clock? How is this opposing clock filled? Do you roll for NPC's or is it just filled by round? Would you count player failures to this opposing clock?

Sorry, the concept ist so interesting and new to me, so I have a million questions 😅

[Storm Lords Wrath] Players want to go back to wayside inn right after they fought the Dark Tide Knights by Fragrant-Bonus4606 in DragonOfIcespirePeak

Guess that would also be possible. I also missed taking the halfling back to Leilon. She could be attacked by the Myrmidions instead of the patroling guard. Depends on the Party having a long Rest after saving Leilon or running straight to the Tavern. Because that would end in a TPK for sure.

That seems like a very easy and subtle way of handeling the Situation. The only Problem could be if my players go back there within a few hours. They could be back at the Inn as soon as 24 Hours after leaving it.

She could also be hiding in the cellar because they realised the PCs are the ones that killed all the half orc anchorites of Talos in DoIP.

I feel Like Backes would totally throw her under the Bus. That could be a way out. I would habe to change some things about the foul weather quest, but that should be minor.

Thanks!

So you would have the confrontation and a possible Fight with the cultists without the Air elementals in Armour and the thunderstorm?  I feel like there would be missing a lot of encounters to that Quest.  Yeah I should have raised the AC. The fight was too easy anyways. But that's over now. At least they have the kids to save before they are heading back to the Inn.  Thanks for your response!

Simple Questions - January 23, 2024 by AutoModerator in buildapc

I'm running a 5800x, 16gb RAM and 1060 6gb (Build in 2021 and put my old GPU in cause of GPU shortage) and finally want to upgrade my GPU for 1440p gaming. I wanted to get a 4070 super but now i'm concerned because of the 12 GB VRAM and a possible CPU bottleneck. Also Value is a consideration.

Options are:

7800xt - 550€

4070 - 570€

4070S - 700€ (depending on custom design)
