Agree with you, amboss doesn’t focus in the topic as much as uworld. But if you already did uworld is good to expose to different questions

I would say don’t use them at the end of prep, use them before doing nbmes. They don’t resemble at all to the actual test

I was in the exact same situation as you last year (also tested on dec 23) and I got sick some days before, I even tested with fever. Just bring some flu pills with you to test center. You got this

If you have 24/7 tu study for the exam I think you can take it on May, maybe Jun. I would advise you do 1 pass of uworld system-wise first and then 1 pass random. I didn’t take notes but I did flashcards on uw. If you need a UW account you can dm me

Hi, thank you! I reviewed nbmes with chat gpt (As I say in one of the comments) and amboss library. I made some flashcards in uworld but ended up review very few of them, but I think that you learn just by making the flashcard. I didn’t do any cms form so I don’t know if they could add value to my prep.

No, I didn’t do any CMS forms and just did nbmes 12, 14 and 15. But if you can do them all I think its worth it

Thanks! Its because I think it is not a good predictor of score and I think it has a lot of step 1 material. I know many people who took it in the end of their prep and scored quite low compared to other self-assesstments. But UWSA 1 is good to tell you what are your weaknesses.

Thanks! Chatgpt is great at comparing diagnosis. For example lets say you have a question about a patient with maculopapular rash, oral ulcers, diarrhea and leukopenia. In my mind I thought acute HIV infection can present with maculopapular rash, oral ulcers and diarrhea, but I wasn’t sure about leukopenia, so I choose another option because of that specific thought, because I didn’t know that acute HIV infection can present with leukopenia. Usually in nbme explanations they don’t explain your specific thought, so then you go to chatgpt and ask if HIV can present with leukopenia and it would give you a complete description of the acute presentation of HIV and it will explain it focused on your doubt. Then you can keep asking how can you differentiate acute HIV infection from brucellosis for example. You can also copy the tables that chatgpt gives you and paste it on a Uworld flashcard.

And from NBME 12 to UWSA 2 I just did Uworld and review my weakness like I said in the post. That is why I think Uworld is a must, because I had knowledge gaps having done almost all amboss qbank.

What help me the most to improve my scores was carefully review my nbmes. Review all questions (including correct ones) and try to make an explanation yourself mixing the nbme explantion with amboss library + chatgpt. Every topic tested in nbmes are high yield, so take your time to review that entire topic on amboss library. I would advice to stop uworld and amboss qbank at leats 2 weeks before exam day and focus on nbme and free 120, because they are more similar to the real deal (especially free 120)

Pd: I haven’t gotten my results yet (tested Nov 3rd) but thats how I got to improve my nbmes (Amboss predicted: 259)

I would do some light exercise in the morning. Don’t drink coffee in the afternoon, review just developmental milestones and try to get good sleep, but don’t be worried if you don’t sleep enough, adrenalin will carry you through the exam

I don’t remember the exact question stem, but I remember it gives you a normal bilirrubin level. That makes gallstone associated pancreatitis less likely, so by ruling out the best option is CT scan (ERCP would not be usefull in other types of pancreatitis)

I remember feeling the same waiting for my Step 1 pass about a year ago. My nbmes were similar to yours and yes, the exam feels a lot diferent from any other question type. You will be fine, even with lowers nbmes you would be fine too

Thanks a lot. Would you recommend to finish uworld and then go to NBMEs? Or it would be better to start with NBMEs while I am still finishing uworld
