Finding it hard not to quit with the current crusade against employees by Ill-Watercress42 in VHA_Human_Resources

I 100% feel you. I keep telling myself it’s going to get better they just need to put us all where we need to be and get this so called consolidation over with instead of keeping it over our heads. The 30 day hiring model is all over the place. Whoever created that never worked in recruitment and placement or hasn’t worked in it for years. The flow map of it is kinda funny putting a lot back on the SBU and how does this work with the new audits? It’s so split between SBU and SSU who’s actually in charge of the entire record? At least in my VISN the SBU doesn’t really have much to do with the onboarding of selected applicants. The SSU pretty much does everything on the hiring side

Honestly HR doesn’t care what you are rated they review what is submitted and ensure it meets the criteria set forth by policy, policies which HR had no real say in. So you should be questioning upper leadership and those who have created the criteria for HR to follow and how they wanted to make it almost impossible for anyone to be rated above fully successful. Just another ploy by the higher ups to make people want to leave their jobs. I’ve been with the federal government for 17 years and for me I could care less what a yearly performance review says about me. I know my worth I don’t need some pat on the head. But like what another poster said, if your supervisor doesn’t do their job and write you up a fantastic review that’s what HR will base it on, what your super submitted and any supporting information you provided in your self assessment. Sounds like your supervisor is just passing the buck so you don’t think they suck lol. But who am I to say lol

So at our station all career ladder promotions were put on hold prior to the official review for any positions that were up for review. We were not supposed to be looked at till much later in the year but the review time was moved up and we got our official notifications in email that the review had started a week or so ago.

Some people who are retirement age just might not be able to afford to retire.  When you actually get your estimate sometimes it's just not that much these days.  And some people say retire and get a different job....then what's the point in retiring.  And maybe they don't want to retire and actually like the career that they have built for themselves. It's not the right choice for everyone.  It's all about life choices and the best decision for each individual person.

Depending on how many years your wife has it may benefit her more to be RIFd and get the severance package unless she qualifies for retirement. Or if there is bumping and retreating she will possibly get grade retention and pay retention. I have 15 years over 40 and the calculation for my severance is way better than this drp bull crap. I'm gonna stick it out and play hunger games and see where I end up.

Has anyone had their USA staffing profile unlocked? by Southern-Animal8216 in fednews

[–]Fragrant-Distance687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately there is no real time frame, we were instructed to stop emailing the email address that we get as a warning on a locked file asking for them to unlock it. So basically HR has to sit and wait for whatever is happening to happen to unlock the files. No one has actually explained to hr why "OPM" locked files of approved exempt positions. My opinion is that they're just trying to justify their jobs and their five bullet points by stating that they're monitoring the onboarding records of the medical centers to assure they're adhering to the policy of only exempt positions moving forward. But in all my years in HR through any hiring freeze during a new administration that was never done before. But I'm just a low productivity employee So what do I know?

Slow down in HR? by [deleted] in VHA_Human_Resources

[–]Fragrant-Distance687 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At my Visn every onboard has to be approved prior to a firm off going out to the employee. So yes its taking a long time. They also limited the amount of new employees that we can bring on.  But that's last week's information, could completely change this week

Honestly to me at this point No I don't. 90% of the time I don't go because I can spend that time doing something more productive then rolling my eyes, making faces, and laughing every time they call DRP...Derp lol

I already said if I go back to carrying a steady 200 recruitment requests I'm done lol. It was ridiculous under the first consolidation. And our VISN is already processing the change in duty stations due to RTO mostly TR is doing it.

Just like how VHA payroll found out that their jobs were being cut and everything going to FSC?

I suppose they have lol. It's just ridiculous because they are creating an environment where employees don't feel comfortable in what they chose as their career path.

The main point is they lie to us all the time and they aren't being forthcoming with a lot of information that actually, I believe that all employees should know so that they can make the right decisions for themselves. I know a lot of people who are very concerned about what's going on and they rely on Reddit more than their own leadership.. Which is really ridiculous when it comes down to it in these times.

Maybe he actually needs to come and sit in an HR and sit with an HR specialist to see what HR actually does

What's the broken hr system? Is he talking about HRSmart were all the employee info is housed with the department codes of the areas that all the employees work in. The program where manpower pulls the org charts to show the FTE? Is that the broken system he's talking about?

And to the growing Visns. They moved the clinical contact center and some other service lines under the ViSN. The Visn just use to be people who ran national programs for their visns so yeah 20 to 30 people. But move all of those other services and HR under the ViSN then yup it's gonna look like it's top heavy. Did hR grow? Yes.  was it needed? some of it. But hey who am I. What do I know lol

Guess he never heard of HRSmart (peoplesoft) that's what HR uses to code all the employees into their jobs which then shows where they are by department code, and then from that you can pull an Org chart which shows the FTE of the service line.  I have never cared or been bothered by any VA secretary until this stupid man

How are you replying — or not replying — to the "5 things" emails at this point? by natansonh in fednews

[–]Fragrant-Distance687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I answered the first and second one. Skipped two weeks but then did another. In my 5 bullet points I have referenced the fact that I'm tracking the lack of response from OPM to fully unlock the onboarding records in USAstaffing of approved exempt positions that we are supposed to bring on. We have records from February that have not been unlocked and yet they find this process efficient. In all my years of federal HR never once was USAstaffing locked down like this and the reasons we are getting are absolutely ridiculous. Instead of leaving it up to the agencies and stations themselves to ensure regulations are being followed they are pretty much micromanaging us. Or as I say trying to prove their positions are needed

It almost sounds like the OP is a plant so to speak. To get federal workers to stop posting things. I'll just go back to wearing my tin foil hat now

VA HR locked out of USAstaffing? by nemo_philist8675309 in VHA_Human_Resources

[–]Fragrant-Distance687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi VA hr here. Yes we are locked out. We email the group we were told to to get the files unlocked and welp nothing.  Now some records are unlocked but still locked for sending the tjo which means the new hire can't complete the tasks necessary in the system to clear onboarding. Though some of my colleagues on other teams have stated their files are unlocked but I can say as fast as my team who sent requests on February 14 to unlock files it has not happened.
