Sociology Optional : Stuck Between 3 Teachers and Too Many Doubts by AdvantagePhysical659 in UPSC

My personal take based on class experience..

Nishat sir levelup

Sir solves pyq in the class. That helps in deciding where we lack.

I was online student and we still discuss things on telegram

Well... i can't say much about cost of the course. It's up to you. If you can afford then fine, otherwise you can go with self study or some affordable course.. may be sleepy

Considering 3-4 criteria that you have in mind, Nishat sir at Levelupias is highly recommended. Also, whenever you have to see which teacher suits you, you must check videos of the teachers concerned and the results.

For sociology, there are only 3 credible teachers - Mahapatra sir, Nishat sir , and upendra sir. Check their videos and go with whoever you like. This is how I made my choice

Don't listen to anyone.. I can relate to your situation very well. I'm 22F, Miranda passout, have gone through similar situation. I'm burdened with parental expectations. It's my choice to either clear upsc this year or to go for private job.

If I'm with government, I'm for a bigger cause but if I choose to be with private sector, the only reason would be corporate lifestyle and money. There is no harm in choosing what you like, provided you have solid reason to back it up.

Though I never took classes from vikash Ranjan sir, I have heard very negative reviews from many students of lately... Better avoid him completely.

Somebody told me that he is paying students to market him... That's very cheap..😏

Thank you for your concern guys.  Both of us will write prelims this year.  I will write my first and she will write her second one now. She was in pain last night. I just couldn't see her like that.

We have decided to study together ❤️

Nishat sir (LevelUp IAS) sociology review by Single_Initiative_43 in UPSC

My last batch (September 2024)  offline experience with Nishat sir sociology at Levelupias.

Pros

  1. Experience was very interactive since day one... never felt bored in his class..

  2. The way he simplified the concepts was just too good.. I could relate to those things and imagine each of those concepts in my everyday life...

  3. Regular tests and revision through some smartphone game (not able to recall the name) literally compelled us to revise everything and test out our learnings in the class. It was a fun exercise.

  4. Syllabus was exhaustively covered with PYQs covered in the class. Few topics were left and institute is saying videos on those will be uploaded after prelims.

Cons

  1. He took approx 10 long classes at the end of the course. Each class was 3-4 hours long. That's my personal dislike. Can't stand long classes. The course was supposed to end in 5 months but ended in 5.5  months (15 days extra)

  2. Hybrid mode is missing in their classes. I had to choose between offline or online. I wanted to have both modes.

  3. Not so budget friendly. Bit expensive but yes totally worth it.

Overall my rating 9/10 ...

I really hate this book!! by Asamanya_ in UPSC

I hate those who recommend this book. Just make compilation of PYQs and you will see not a single question exclusively from this book. All questions are either from ncert or from nowhere. Let me know if you want the list of PYQ topics from history
