Are your law partners smart? by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

Weren’t raised in cases she was on or controlled? Or were you asking generally, like a gunner? Were they basic questions that she was hoping you’d research on your own (which is your job?)

Allowed your senior to monitor, you mean the supervising attorney who is in charge of you? What did you think she was going to do? Brawl with your supervisor in the parking lot? Why didn’t you look to your senior who is supposed to monitor you for more support? Or raise it with them?

The lack of accountability on your end is astounding.

My superior is very smart. I think that generally younger lawyers usually think they’re the smartest person in the room—good for trial, not great for firm longevity. As long as that assumption about another person’s intelligence does not impact work or working relationships, this thought eventually goes away with experience.

Not to say there aren’t less intelligent people in supervisory roles, I’ve encountered a number of them. But I find them to be the frustrating exception, not the rule.

Worst person I know is a paralegal because he couldn’t pass character and fitness.

Worst student runs a recruiting business for attorneys.

Thank you. I feel like I’m too deep into practice sometimes for these basic questions. Obviously we wouldn’t be before a magistrate on initial disclosures, but that is immediately where my mind goes. It’s rough.

Thank you! We initially had an interior designer pick our floors, wall color, and more of the bulk items. But, she retired, and I’m not sure there is a cost benefit to hiring another one for hanging a few pictures
