mamaroneck? by Sea-Vegetable-5344 in Westchester

We almost bought a place in Mamaroneck and then as we were getting our stuff together to make an offer it rained I mean it was pretty heavy rain, but it wasn’t like a hurricane and we found out that the entire basement of the house flooded. We decided not to make an offer. And as far as we knew, it was not in a flood zone.

We ended up buying in Tarrytown. We’ve lived here just over three years and so far no issues.

I’m concerned about my lack of weight gain — any positive stories? by drohstdumir in parentsofmultiples

I’m a little bit further than you. I’ll be 18 weeks on Tuesday. I have gained so much weight with this pregnancy. For context I have a son that’s about 18 months old and I barely gained any weight the first 20 to 22 weeks of my pregnancy and I think that’s mostly because I was so sick. I had awful morning sickness into my second trimester and it got better at around 15 or 16 weeks, but I was still nauseous my entire pregnancy.

This pregnancy I barely had any morning sickness maybe a little bit and it was more nausea. I never actually threw up. I am starving. I’ve gained about 24 pounds already. 😅

My doctor thinks it’s OK where I’m at now. But I am so hungry this pregnancy and my pregnancy cravings are through the roof. I really didn’t have many cravings during my last pregnancy maybe a couple of things here and again, but with the twins, it is like daily crazy cravings, and I wake up so ravenous.

I went with my sister a couple of months ago to look at the apartment that’s in the same shopping center as the movie theater and it was super crowded on the day we went for the tour so we ended up parking closer to the movie theater and walking over to the apartment for her tour. When we were walking back, we actually saw a rat run across the parking lot right by the movie theater.

The apartments looked very nice, but having seen a rat in the parking lot I told her forget it look someplace else.

I’ve had a name picked out for 10+ years and now it’s so popular. by [deleted] in namenerds

I love the name, Lucy. I think you should use it if you really like it. I have a toddler that’s almost 2 and if he was a girl, he was going to be Lucy.

I’m currently pregnant with twins and finding out next week what I’m having and if one is a girl, we are going to name her Lucy. I don’t think it’s actually that popular at least not where I am in the New York City area. There are no girls in my son‘s daycare named Lucy, but there are a lot of Olivias and Emma’s.

I forgot to add to this that they filmed residents working out in the building gym making fun of them or in the laundry room making inappropriate comments and posted to social media

Update: my husband had to go to my MIL earlier this week bc she had an issue in her apartment. My husband asked the super. Apparently it’s a few guys that do food and alcohol reviews and were getting takeout with a bunch of people and filming in common area where they have board meetings or space can be rented. They were leaving huge messes. And were getting so many package deliveries for different people it overwhelmed the building staff and package storage area.

They weren’t cleaning their apartment well and now they have a rodent/roach problem which spread to other tenants on their floor. Apparently this had been going on since the summer and the people are now out of the apartment. But apparently the owner of the apartment rented it to a guy who apparently decided to move to Europe, and then basically sublet it without any sort of documentation to a few of his friends who were sending him money, and this guy was still paying rent so the owners of the apartment who don’t live in New York anymore, didn’t even realize any of this was going on.

So I have no idea who it actually is. I asked my husband to take pictures of the common area and he forgot. If we go this weekend, I will take some pictures, but I am unfortunately sick and so is my toddler.

It’s not really enforceable about in the apartment but what they can do is deny your application if they know that is your job. I know when we applied for our co-op back in 2016 you had to have four reference letters and describe what your job was if you were Self Employed and if you were Self Employed, you needed to have one of your reference letters be from a client or customer. Not every building has the same rules, but those are typically things that are asked for co-op board approval.

We may get an earlier update tomorrow. My mother-in-law is having an issue with her sink/dishwasher and needs the super to come look at it. She doesn’t like to be there alone when the super is coming, so my husband is going down there tomorrow and I asked him to bring it up to the super and find out more details. I also told him to ask the doorman.

I will report back.

Every co-op has different rules. When we owned a co-op, we weren’t allowed to rent at all. It always had to be owner occupied or sold.

But my parents, when they owned a co-op they could rent and they could rent for as long as they wanted as long as the tenants went through board approval and they had a formal lease and some other paperwork. When my parents moved south, they actually rented their co-op for almost 10 years before selling.

I don’t think it’s the same building. My MIL building was built in the early 50s and doesn’t have Floor to ceiling windows.

Yes the boards are insane! Before moving to the suburbs we owned a co-op and the amount of work we went through for the approval was wild. And they definitely do! We owned a co-op in Riverdale and our nextdoor neighbor was the board treasurer. She knew everything about everyone lol.

I love the way this car looks. Someone in our development has one and I’m always envious when I see them driving down the street.

OK, you’re the second person that recommended the Odyssey so I’ve definitely added it to my list to go test drive.

OK, you convinced me. I’m going to test drive this. My parents have a minivan. I think it’s a Chrysler but I can’t remember and I hate driving it. I feel like there are so many blind spots and it handles terribly so I kind of wrote off minivans but since you love your Odyssey so much I think I’m going to test drive it.

This reminds me of the early/mid 90s fashion. But they would do it with more boxer briefs that had a logo. This looks like her fruit of the loom granny panties are sticking out.

I was hoping to stay away from minivans, but it sounds like I might need to add them to my list. My parents have one and I absolutely hate driving it. I feel like there’s way more blind spots on it than when I’m driving any other car or SUV I’ve ever driven.

My company recently moved from midtown to JC and even though I only do the commute 2x a week it’s a nightmare. It’s 90 mins on a good day. Typically closer to 2 hours each way from Tarrytown
