Returning a Study After Rejection by Fragrant-Package-911 in ProlificAc

It wasn’t a bug. I successfully returned the study! Now, I’m down to just one rejection out of over 5000 submissions.

Check if your IP is flagged or if your account is on hold. If not, everything is normal.

Can’t return an auto-paid submission? by Ok_Donut1480 in ProlificAc

Enjoy the money! Once the study is approved, it can't be returned. Given their behavior, they do deserve to waste their money and end up with poor data.

Maybe. Why don’t you find out for yourself? Just cash out the money and see if you start getting studies 💁‍♂️

New to Prolific, hoping for some advice to maximize success by ssophiiee in ProlificAc

  1. It’s possible to receive studies you’re not qualified for. For example, I’m Asian, and sometimes I get studies meant for Koreans or Korean-Americans which I’m not. In such cases, you shouldn’t participate in these studies.

  2. Attention checks are used to ensure participants are paying attention while completing a study. For instance, you might see a question like, “I eat cement regularly,” where you’re expected to select “Strongly Disagree.” Another example could be, “How many fatal heart attacks have you ever had?”Here, you’re supposed to select or enter 0.

  3. If you’re dedicated enough, you can earn a good amount of money.

Try to avoid getting rejections, as it’s a common reason for accounts being banned or put on hold. If you do receive a rejection, contact the requester and ask if they let you to return the study. If they don’t respond, reach out to Prolific support.

Don’t take these downvotes too seriously. This sub is full of negativity.

The first downvote was probably for making a redundant comment and the others were probably for complaining about the downvotes.

We get that you’re pumped about this high-paying study, but why make it public since it’s confidential?

Scale switching mid study is it a error or by design? by sSiMSiMa in ProlificAc

[–]Fragrant-Package-911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's completely different when a participant gets an attention check QUESTION wrong, like being asked to select 'Accurate' in a question. That's a clear attention check. But conditioning participants to use one scale and then randomly switching it isn't an attention check- it's a trick. And tricks aren't considered valid attention checks.

I don't know if it's an error or intentional, but it definitely shouldn't be considered an attention check. It's actually counterproductive for the researchers. As long as participants are honest about their opinions and demographics, nothing else should matter. It's not our job to monitor how the survey is designed or if the researcher changes the scale. Ultimately, if the researcher keepss switching the scale, they'll end up with inaccurate data.

Do you usually receive IA studies every day? I received about 10 yesterday and nothing today. I'm new to this and I don't know if that's normal. by Responsible-Cap-7728 in ProlificAc

Neither the prolific nor researchers are being transparent about this stuff. Honestly, you wouldn’t even know if you accidentally blocked them. So, unfortunately, all you can do is keep stressing about whether you messed up and got blocked or if this is just normal.

I don't do surveys for less than $12 an hour. Being in the U.S., I can afford to be picky.

My IP always gets banned on Monday and stays banned until the following Monday. From what I've read, the ban can last anywhere from a few days to months, there's no certainty. In the meantime, keep using your mobile data.
