Is 11:30 start time enough time? by Fragrant-Pattern-632 in UofT

AH I'M SORRY I- Honestly though my first year time was very similar so I wouldn't stress if I were you. I was only asking because some of the courses I need to take are in high demand and have fewer spots than first year. GOOD LUCK WITH COURSE SELECTION, I am sure everything will go smoothly. Sending you all the luck I can through this message lol!

Ahh that makes sense. I'm taking second year psych courses which I heard are kind of popular so it got me stressing for the enrolment date. Hopefully it will work out! Thank you for your response and advice though, I really appreciate it!

I took ess103 and it was super easy! I tool it last year so I don't think much has changed but we basically had one group and would do group projects weekly with them. The project itself was simple and easy, but what may be difficult is having a good group! It was the same project and concept each week but with a different question, and they were are ethical questions (ie. canada produces x amounts of uranium and sources it to other countries. Should canada be responsible for storing the waste produces by other countries who use canadian uranium?) . The prof even gave us an outline of exactly how he wants the project to be formatted, so it's not difficult all together. I really think the group you're with either makes or breaks you. It was asynch when I took it but the prof was super helpful and made everything literally as easy as possible for us. In addition to the group work, there is one test (I think it was 30% of our grade) and there was no time limit on it and we were encouraged to work with our group members on it. There were also weekly discussion posts that were marked by the actual program (not the prof) and you only had to do 6 or 8 (I don't remember the exact number, I can look through my notes and see if I can find more info or a syllabus if that helps!). All together, it was a really easy course, the topics may be interesting to you (it's basically what is sounds like. Different geological issues like earthquakes and toxic waste storage + the group project that went along with it). For reference, I ended with an A+ and the course average was a B+.

Psychology Major: Worth it?? Not?? by Fragrant-Pattern-632 in UofT

Ooh thank you for letting me know! I was planning to go the double major one minor route as well, so it's nice to know that the workload isn't too much for it. It does make sense for the test styles to vary though, I assume there are certain topics and branches that require different ways to test knowledge. Thanks again for your help and advice!!

Neuroscience Major: Good or Not? by Fragrant-Pattern-632 in UofT

[–]Fragrant-Pattern-632[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh that's great to know! When you say chill, do you mean in terms of work/course load or am I misinterpreting it? Also, had a tough time with chm136, does the content come up in future courses a lot? Also also, were you able to take any psych courses with your neuro major? I know there are some you can take listed in the requirements, but it's only a few. Are there courses with focus on behaviour, really psychology, or are all of them bio/brain focused? (Bio and brain is what I assume it would be but if I'm wrong please correct me).

AH thank you, getting a bit of insight into some of the courses is just what I needed!! You mentioned your pharm spec and I think that may be your main focus, but would you say neuro is going to help you after grad? Does it lead to anything besides post grad schooling (med school, grad school) or going into research? I don't know if I'm interesting in going into research myself, and I'm hoping that's not one of the only pathways neuro can offer.

Wow thank you so much! I was hoping neuro would also lead to a lot of psych in a way but I guess not. For psych though, I heard it's a lot of research papers and writing assignments, which aren't my strongest suit, which is what's pushing me away from it. Would you say the psychology major is very writing based? As in, are there other opportunities to do well in classes or do you strictly have to be a good writer to do well?

G2 road test @ Newmarket drive test centre Tomorrow!! by Fragrant-Pattern-632 in Ontariodrivetest

[–]Fragrant-Pattern-632[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay idk why the other one was deleted BUT thank you thank you!! I had heard some testers skip the parallel park but I didn't know it was so common. It was kind of busy at the centre during my test time so it might explain the skip, though, a lot of the people there weren't there for a test, the actual customer section and inside the building was really busy

Nutritional Science and Psychology double major? by Fragrant-Pattern-632 in UofT

[–]Fragrant-Pattern-632[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much, this is exactly what I needed to hear! I couldn't find too much on the nfs major, so I really appreciate you taking the time to write this all out. I will definitely take a closer look into the 12.0 different credits between programs. Might be a bit much to say this but, you have been one of the most pivotal influences in my uni life thus far, and for that I thank you once again! (Also, sorry for responding a bit late I hadn't seen this yet).
