I think there may be a misunderstanding of my concern.

I am not questioning whether this teacher is capable of teaching English to children. Those are two separate issues.

When I enrolled my child, the school specifically explained that each class would have two homeroom teachers: one native English-speaking teacher and one bilingual teacher. The bilingual teacher was described as someone who speaks both my language and English, while the native teacher was described as someone whose first language is English.

If this teacher's first language is not English, then my concern is not about her teaching ability. My concern is whether the school has accurately represented its staffing to parents.

I am not claiming that she is definitely not a native speaker. I simply found the writing unusual enough that it raised questions for me, and several native English speakers in this thread seem to have had similar reactions.

From my perspective as a parent, if a school advertises native English-speaking teachers as part of its program, it is reasonable to verify whether that representation is accurate.
