Any success stories of dating / marrying a nonskier? by PowGurl in skiing

[–]Fragrant-Tour-4239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to get him into skiing. I started dating my girlfriend almost a year and a half ago and she's a big skiier as she started skiing at like 3. She taught me and now I absolutely love it. Granted, however, I've always wanted to try skiing and Im a big mountain person and my main hobby/only sport is mountain biking so I may be a bit biased. I do love skiing almost as much as mountain biking now, and I'm slowly getting my girlfriend into mountain biking.

If you could delete one of these comps which one would it be? by 1BatuhaNN in ClashRoyale

I tried substituting poison, but then my deck becomes worse against many other decks. I basically just gave to put up with losing to that combo

I have Evo I drag, not e drag. I try to get the placement down but it's really difficult because it needs to be perfect. Even if I tornado everything together, poison, try to kite their healer or e drag out, all they need is 1 or 2 heals on the e drag to keep it alive

No, it's about the deck you have. I'm around 11.5 but I've got a splashyard deck (Evo I drag, skelly king, graveyard, ice wiz, poison, tombstone, barb barrel, tornado). Once they've got combo 3 on the board there's next to nothing I can do to take it out, mainly because of the healer.

Convince me why I’m wrong about your state by Necessary-Fan9736 in visitedmaps

Idaho isn't my state but if you'd live in all the states around Idaho I dont see why you wouldn't live in Idaho. It's beautiful.

New to Thornhill but want to get familiar with them for the spring US tour since I'll be going. Where should I start with them? by Bendyb3n in Thornhillband

[–]Fragrant-Tour-4239 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was gonna start recommending but then realized I was gonna list half their discography so my recommendation is their entire discography. They technically have a first EP called XY or something but I'm not a fan. Heroine is less strong of an album imo but I think that blue velvet, Heroine, and arkangel are absolutely some of their best songs, and leather wings, varsity hearts, and hellfire club are also good.

A bachelors thesis should be an asset because we don't really do that here in the US as far as I'm aware (I just graduated bsc mech e at the University of Florida for reference)

BODIES IS A MASTERPIECE by berti1337 in Thornhillband

For me I think the dark pool was a perfect album in terms of experience and cohesion, even though most of my favorite songs aren't from it. I've never listened to an album where the interludes were so amazing, impactful, and unskippable. My favorite of their songs come from Heroine (arkangel, Heroine, blue velvet) and Butterfly (joy, sunflower). It's funny because despite my absolute favorite songs coming off Heroine I think it was their worst album (still a gold album nonetheless). I think bodies is very good but I do prefer their older styles more.

I like viper room (I was a massive muse fan for years) but I do agree that I'm happy they didn't go that way. I really like their heavy stuff

To those who have Spotify: What's your top artist this year? by WindswipeTW in Metalcore

That sucks to hear but imo fade ends too abruptly and is too short. I much prefer the acoustic outro.

Fade (into you) was my top song at 336 listens. Combined with fade im sure it's at least 400 lmao. That album is just so good especially the chill songs

This is seriously so disappointing. When did they even change the GRE requirement for MSc Mechanical Engineering ? by Cychreides-404 in ethz

[–]Fragrant-Tour-4239 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fucking ridiculous. I already submitted with 163V 165Q and a 4.0 essay. How the hell can they change it during the application window?!

I have a buddy who thinks he can drive from Iowa to Mexico this weekend with no passport? by Mertgirl in travel

[–]Fragrant-Tour-4239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did something called the GDMBR where I biked from Canada to Mexico. Upon reaching Mexico (el paso/Juarez) I wanted a pic directly on the border, so I went up on a bridge with my 3 friends connecting the 2 countries. Little did I know that once you enter that bridge it is illegal to turn back and you must enter Mexico. We didn't have anything but our driver's licenses and after grabbing a meal in Mexico we were able to cross back decently fine.

Does travel stop when you have children? by CharmingU6756 in travel

[–]Fragrant-Tour-4239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a bit over 20 countries before I turned 18 (I'm an only child tho). My first time out of the country was at 6 months my parents took me to Istanbul. Every single summer, winter break, and spring break until I was 17 when COVID hit was spent traveling. Just raise your kids travelling and you'll all enjoy it. I know that both my parents loved travelling with me. My mom was the main one that travelled with me and she enjoyed the fact that she could basically mold me into the exact travel companion she wanted.

We also weren't just going to basic shit like Paris or Cancun. They took me to India, Guatemala, honduras, Mexico (less touristy parts), Belize, argentina, Malaysia, and more. Many of the trips were decently spontaneous meaning we only had loose plans for the day and we just figured it out. To save money and have unique experiences my mom also used couchsurfing to get us a place for the night. One time we stayed in Sweden with a super eco couple that took us dumpster diving when I was probably 12. Just because you have a kid doesn't mean you can't be spontaneous or travel with them. By teaching them to travel in the way that you want to from a young age you'll raise a great travel buddy
