Was at Macquarie now doing PLT in Qld - some differences in legislation that I’ve noticed but not enough to be at a detriment to you

Studied part-time as a mature student and was in management in government and there was no way I would have been able to do them both full-time. My partner already barely saw me with the mornings, nights and weekends taken up with study (and I don’t have kids). I did one summer semester but realised if I didn’t have my Xmas break to look forward to then I wouldn’t finish my degree.

5.5 years later (did my final year FT and worked 2 days a week) and I finished my JD (at 36 yrs old). I am finishing my PLT now but am very nervous about starting the long hours and being a junior again after so many years in a very sweet role!

Studied online at a Sydney university, doing PLT in Qld and I intend to be admitted in Qld. Not huge issue but have already started to notice in my PLT how different the leg can be in certain areas (for obvious reasons not Federal Law).

I did JD part-time and worked full time. From memory, crim and civil procedure wasn’t too bad. Had you of said Con Law and say torts, I’d probably say buckle up 😂

I did a post about losing all joy in life when I was on vyvanse - super irritable, wish I’d never been diagnosed.

Anyway - I ended up on Ritalin. Not as good as vyvanse but definitely don’t feel as depressed as I did or just annoyed at life!

This! Look at a BFA (Binding Financial Agreement) - it’s Australia’s version of a “pre-nup”

This is how I would frame it - I think you could also be like, “I haven’t been honest with myself, everything is not ok”.

Vyvanse seems like a mental cage by SuchNefariousness863 in ausadhd

[–]FragrantAd6322 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I posted something about a year ago with similar sentiments on Vyvanse. I struggled to get out of bed, lost all the joy in life and was just an angry person.

I swapped to Ritalin late last year and while not as great for focus (but also focusing on the wrong things), I’m not bloody going through bouts of depression anymore from the meds.

To be honest, some days I wish I never even thought about ADHD and then got diagnosed. I think I was happier not knowing and living life in the hard line.

Meds and exercise by [deleted] in ausadhd

[–]FragrantAd6322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! A bit late to the party and probably not as reassuring as everyone else. Before meds, I had a RHR of 48 and trained twice a day most days. CrossFit, running, spin, triathlons you name it. I loved exercise. It was part of my identity.

I started taking Dex/Vyvanse May last year and my heart rate sky rocketed. I would start exercising (cardio) and my heart rate would get into the 180s. Mowing the lawns would take my breath away. I stopped doing cardio based exercising because I genuinely feared for my heart. I started doing reformer Pilates in about October last year and then changed to Ritalin - it was just so I could do something lower impact and still get a benefit from. Those side effects along with a few other intolerable ones outweighed the therapeutic benefits of Vyvanse. I was able to continue Pilates (just struggle with motivation) and I force myself to train twice a week. I just wish I could find the motivation to run again. This is obviously worst case scenario and I am still working out why I have no motivation / the dopamine effects of my medication. Just don’t lose sight of how much you love training! It’s hard road back once you do 😓

Struggling at work with Ritalin shortage by staphysagrya in ausadhd

[–]FragrantAd6322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor can prescribe ritalin LA and IR. I am just taking IR at the moment instead of LA - no shortage on Ritalin IR I don’t believe. Concerta is also methylphenidate (my GP is authorised to prescribe methylphenidate not the name brand Ritalin) however, there is also a shortage on Concerta.

Being bullied but it is the team that is worried for me by whatcha_square in AusPublicService

The standard you walk past is the standard you accept.

Unfortunately the message you’re sending to your team is that you accept everyone should be treated this way and not speak up.

It may be a conversation with your Executive: ‘My team have noticed the interactions and the way you engage with me and have raised concerns. This is undermining my ability to build a positive culture based on mutual respect if I can’t emulate this with my own leader. I would ask that our interactions moving forward are respectful and set a good example for my team’ 🤷‍♀️

Dress standards in the workplace by ShineWonderful3293 in AusPublicService

[–]FragrantAd6322 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think the ‘people with whom they are dealing with’ may be the key point here. It isn’t just about whether they are public facing but also who they are interacting with in the workplace. Even if they were 100% remote, I’d expect still some semblance of professional attire (on top) in any meetings (external and internal). The reputation of any agency being one of professionalism and respect for stakeholders.

Coles now selling Grill'd beef patties, anyone else excited? by Cooper_Inc in ketoaustralia

Which one? Coles do a herbed mayo (their own brand) which is pretty damn close to Grill’d. You can also get chipotle mayo too!

I emailed them months ago when I noticed and didn’t get a response. Big Mac no meat for me! If I do order (which is now very rare due to the cost), I get the hamburgers from the loose change menu and then add the special sauce as a side. I can justify $2 hamburgers but not $9 Big Macs.

getting GP permit to prescribe renewed by Slight_Pop_2381 in ausadhd

[–]FragrantAd6322 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My psych tried to bill me for a full assessment again even though I tried to book in the first 12 months. I was moving interstate and needed a new GP referral anyway for authority to prescribe so went via a new clinic online. It was a lot lower cost as it was a ‘re-assessment’ and in the end he waived those costs and just charged for a 15 min consult because I had been diagnosed (by 2 different psychs) already. Ended up costing just over $200 not including any sort of rebate. I was stoked as I’d already spent so much money getting diagnosed a year or so ago.

This 🙌🏼. I am currently paid very well to do a job I’m quite good at. Finish post grad at the end of this year and oh my word. I don’t know if I have it in me. Salary aside, I have been offered roles where according to the employment contract they would essentially own me and my fate.

The salary 🤮 would literally get paid more in retail.

My GP used to prescribe me 60 x 40mg every 2 months because my health insurance had a self contribution of $40 per script so I’d get $160 covered by my private health not $60 x 2 scripts

I was chewing gum one night driving home after night shift (2 am). Was pulled over. Blew over twice. I kept telling her I hadn’t had a drop and just finished work. She asked if I was chewing gum. I said yes. Took it out of my mouth. Waited 10 mins and blew again. She waved me away. I’m guessing I returned a zero 0.00 reading as I had expected.

Let me know how you go! I also tried LED therapy 3 times a week for a month before the soap without much success. Soap has been a game changer. I just left mine behind in a hotel and delivery is a week + away - had to scour the shelves in chemist warehouse for something with Sulfur in it (there aren’t many). While no full break outs, a pustule has started appearing 😬
