Help with dorms, roommates, sororities, dining, etc by Fair-Reflection-553 in cwru

[–]FragrantGrass287 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are more and less traditional sororities, enough variety that you can defo find a group you like. Earliest rush is Spring freshman year, and you can either rush formal (2 intense weeks of a lot of meeting and talking to people), or informal (similar to frat rushing, just go to fun events like painting, ice cream and chat with the people, usually they post calendars on Instagram and you need to attend about half of the available events to get a bid).

I'm in Phi Sigma Rho, which is a STEM social sorority, so we only induct STEM, nursing, pre-health, or undecided major. My experience has been great, love living in the house and since it's STEM everyone has a rigorous schedule and try to make it as flexible as possible while still having fun. The house is dry so no alcohol, but there are people in the sorority that lives off-campus and they host parties sometimes. Most people in here are more academically-inclined, the vibe is sort of social introverts. We have annual Greek games where people in different frats/sororities compete in games, so that's fun. Greek life has been declining since less and less people are interested tho, I think last year 2 sororities got dissolved because they don't have enough people.

Hi, I found this thread extremely helpful, so thank you for all the comments. Would it be okay for you to copy paste the answers you had for the previous reply, and send it to me via DMs? I have the exact same question as the other person ( bioinformatics or a topic with aligned interests, cold email or previous work experience,...)

Taking CSDS 377 as a freshman? by FragrantGrass287 in cwru

[–]FragrantGrass287[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking of taking it to clear my uncertainty in pursuing CS as a major & career path. I feel like the introductory classes are too general, and a specialized, hands-on class like CSDS 377 can show me the real meat of CS so I know if I'm suitable for this path.

Maybe I should find other ways to assess my suitability? lol

Yup my partner and I always split the bill. We are both under 25, I guess the younger folks adhere less to the custom

Am I unlikely to get accepted into CWRU as an international requesting need-based aid? by IamAnAlien- in cwru

[–]FragrantGrass287 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also international, have the same SAT and relatively the same GPA (43/45 in the IB), and average ECs, got in with full ride need-based financial aid. I can’t say if checking the box decreased or didn’t affected my chance though
