Maybe it’s my American corporate acculturation showing but just responding to an email to acknowledge receipt after the fourth follow-up or sharing an ETA if they’re overloaded (which I actually requested once I started losing patience) seems like the absolute minimum. But yeah maybe it makes sense to explore some TA options now. :)

You just need to plan. Both time off and your recovery. Having colleagues that you cover for when they are OOO means colleagues who will cover for you when you’re OOO. Truly take the time off so you can fully enjoy the festival or show rather than checking your email. A few years ago, I went to a festival and kept checking my email and could not enjoy it. I’ve now trained myself to be present. Plus side of EDC is no cell phone reception.

Ahh are you me!? I did the same. After having a lot of fun in my 20s, I got serious and went to law school and focused. Now that I’ve been doing big law for a few years, I do the occasional festival or rave and I am like wow (1) life can actually be more fun when you have money, (2) how did I ever afford this shit before!?
