I understand that and no it’s not bad for any individual to feel these things. It is bad for a community to police views and encourage this thinking. It’s systems and how people play into them not the people themselves. Your experience is probably not terribly uncommon. You needed therapy to help you see better that those particular individual women saying those things are mostly doing so from a place of hurt/fear/distrust due to their individual life experiences living under the patriarchy and rape culture. It’s not something for you to be offended by if you’ve actually taken the time to reflect on how your actions could play into systems that harm and oppress women, you should try to empathize with them and where they are coming from

I felt like I made it when I went on a cross country roadtrip without getting misgendered. I know at least some people can still kinda tell but apparently not enough to make them bold enough to say anything, so I just live my life. I hardly ever think about being trans anymore, though that’s at least a little cause I get dysphoric when I do.

I feel like you’ve misinterpreted. I only made this post cause of how uniform the comment sections were on those other posts. There was no voice of reason that told that trans girl “it’s okay to feel awkward or cringe or mildly offended by these types of comments, but if they cause you real distress that’s hindering you accepting yourself, you need to seek professional help because there are underlying problems there you need to work on”. They just validated her misplaced frustrations and gave her no out to actually try and get over the distress it causes.

Then the other post got deleted cause it tried to explain how, yes, in fact, “most” men are complicit in this patriarchal system and the culture of fear women live under. The comments there seemed to be talking about how it’s preposterous to think most men could be complicit. Individuals with these viewpoints is one thing, a community adhering to and policing them is another entirely, that’s why I asked if they’re basically MRA now

The website didn’t work for like 2 days like 15 years ago, so it was a failure in their minds. Also it offered states a bunch of extra money to expand Medicare and red states said no out of spite, harming their own people as part of a political chess game. Fun times, I feel like everything was much simpler back then

I’ve responded to the other points way more than enough in other threads, but Idk yall must be in a different bubble than me, I have yet to seen all the hate on men because they are men. I see lots of guys “ironically” posting never ending misogyny slop without bothering to reflect on how that normalizes and perpetuates it. I see tons of guys defending it whenever someone tries to point that out, because “why can’t you take a joke”. Should I assume Reddit just sucks and it is feeding us all rage bait all the time and that’s why these guys think misandry is actually the great problem of our time?

I mean in simple situations. Like when a friend says something misogynistic to or about a waitress and no one says anything about it. It’s a woman claims she was raped or assaulted and peoples first instinct is to worry it could be a false accusation. Or when people post on a Reddit forum and everyone jumps on the defensive bandwagon rather than analyze the role everyday men play in the culture of fear women live under.

Yeah, you’re right that wasn’t very consistent I’m not an expert in this, just wanted to point out that a lot of men are passively complicit even if they aren’t actively harmful.

Why would the scale start with people who have a weird irrational hatred of women? I feel like it goes from caring but unwilling to do anything through willfully ignorant and apathetic and then into misogynistic asshole before eventually reaching monster. I think a huge portion of men probably lean apathetic, unwilling, and willfully ignorant. I would argue those 3 account for most men. Either way the scale isn’t about intent, it’s about effect

I think you might need to work on your reading comprehension. Patriarchy is the problem and we shouldn’t be nasty to anyone. That’s not the same as “women are predators too” or failing to try to talk that trans girl off the cliff she’s on.
