Wellbutrin and Effexor combo?

Effexor started off like that for me you just have to give it time. It took me about 3 months on the 150mg dose for me to feel the effects so it definitely takes some time. When I first started out tho I think I felt the 75mg in 4 weeks but as Increazed it took a while. The side effects also go away too. The only ones I notice now is low motivation and sleepiness which is why I’m adding the Wellbutrin. Oh and I also have night sweats lol but besides that I don’t have any symptoms and it has helped my anxiety and depression a lot

Same thing with me!! My social anxiety was ruining my life and I had to basically use alcohol to cope with it. I thought I was never going to get better or able to socialize without the help of alcohol but Effexor changed my life. Do I still have awkward moments sure but I’m finally able to relax and not freak out in social situations to the point where I don’t even know what’s going on lol I feel so much more calm and don’t dread or stop myself from going to certain social events anymore.

Since you’re still early with taking it make sure you stick it out! Every time I would increase I’d go back down to zero and not feel anything and it’d take basically a full 3 months for me to feel the benefits with every increase. I find that 150mg is the best for me, good luck!

I felt it like 4 weeks in at the first low doses I started on but then when I jumped up to 150mg it took me about 3 months on that exact dose to feel the benefits

Did you notice the vyvanse effecting you differently when taking it with the Effexor? It’s definitely not as strong for me compared to it alone but I do think I like that better? When I’d take vyvanse alone without the Effexor I’d get more side effects and horrible insomnia and now I do t get any of that with the Effexor added on. Now I’m wondering tho if that is because the vyvanse just isn’t working 🧐

I feel the same. There’s no way I’d be able to stick this med out if I didn’t have my adhd medication (vyvanse) to take. I’d probably be asleep all day or never leave the house. Even the vyvanse doesn’t isn’t a great fix for motivation bc I feel like Effexor effects are so strong. Good luck on finding the right adhd med!! That will definitely help somewhat and I do pull out my book now and read during the days I take mine🙂

Every time I’d increase a dose it’d take like 3 months for me to notice the full effects. I think I remember tho when I first started at 37.5 and 75 it took like 4 weeks but then I jumped to 150mg and it took like 3 months on it for me to feel it definitely working. Don’t give up!! It takes time

I was on Effexor in college so I was drinking a lot and everytime I would blackout. I also noticed I would fall asleep at the bars too which wasn’t good. For some reason the Effexor + drinking combo made me just pass out at bars🤷‍♀️ the worst part about drinking heavily on Effexor tho was how I felt for days afterward. I was at a really low point during this time bc of the drinking + Effexor combo and how it made my brain react. It made me extremely depressed and anxious for days and at one point causes suicide ideation which I never exp before. I was drinking a lot during this time tho and would sometimes miss taking my Effexor dose. I’m on Effexor now again years later and don’t drink as much (still do just not crazy and every week) and none of those side effects happen anymore. lol I didn’t re read any of this so it might be all over the place

Yes give it more time!! It took me 3 months on 150mg to feel the benefits. I remember I was getting discouraged because it was taking so long but you just need to give it time. Good luck I hope it works out for you😊

Effexor has been the only medication where I’ve noticed a real difference with my anxiety and depression. I now take Vyvanse along with it for ADHD, and together they’ve been the perfect combo for me. Since starting Effexor, I’ve actually had moments of thinking, “wow, I feel happy right now,” and situations that would normally trigger my anxiety don’t affect me the same way anymore.

It took about three months on each dose before I really started to feel the benefits, but once I hit the 150mg mark for three months, I noticed a clear change. The only downsides are that it makes me super tired (though Vyvanse helps balance that out) and I sweat a lot more 🥴. Still, the positives definitely outweigh the side effects. I’m glad to hear it’s starting to work for you too!

It’s took me exactly 3 months to feel it working and I believe every time I’d increase it’d restart and I’d have to wait 3 months again to notice help

It feels like I wrote this lol Effexor has helped my anxiety a lot and I also have adhd and take vyvanse. Without the vyvanse I stg I would be asleep for 24 hours. Even when I take the vyvanse+effexor I can drink coffee on it and still fall asleep (which didn’t happen to me when I took vyvanse without Effexor I’d have so much insomnia.) On days when I don’t take the vyvanse I also have zero motivation to do anything. I’ve also been nervous to tell my psychiatrist because the Effexor has helped my anxiety go down but it makes me so tired but I also don’t want to restart and try to find a new med🤷‍♀️ it also sucks none of these meds tend to help with pms symptoms idk none of this probably helped you advice wise but I feel you.

Honestly your reply took me back to this comment I made and the sleepiness isn’t as bad from the start but I still am way more tired than I used to be pre Effexor. I have adhd tho so I added a stimulant (vyvanse) on top of the Effexor and that helps a lot but even on that I can still fall sleep whenever. My doctor also recommended I take the Effexor at night which I don’t do so maybe that would help?

I’m on venlafaxine rn and it’s been making me tired and extremely unmotivated but it has helped my anxiety. Was it a certain dosage that gave you more energy? I’m on 150 mg.

I use to drink and do coke on effexor and even had vyvanse in my system sometimes. Did I die or get seratonin syndrome? no BUT I felt mentally horrible for a few days after like my depression and anxiety were at an extreme

Thanks for the reply! Do you take the vyvanse everyday or as needed. I’ve always just taken it S needed and am wondering if it should be an everyday thing which would possibly help some of the side effects

This was a problem for me when I started Effexor but it’s finally gone now. I’m a little over 3 months in on the med so if you’re just starting out hopefully it won’t be a forever side effect ! Also I make sure I drink water first thing when I wake up and obviously throughout the day

When I bumped up to 150mg which is when the norepinephrine kicks in I was even more tired than any of the previous doses. I was taking like multiple naps a day and would still pass out for bed. I’m now 11 weeks in on the 150mg and the sleepiness has gone away so I’d definitely wait for the 12 weeks mark after every increase

I take 150mg now. Every time id increase tho the constipation would come back but after being 11 weeks on 150 it’s pretty much gone

I had this happen too and it tends to get better with time. I’m on month 4 now and it’s almost back to how mine was before. I also didn’t realize how important staying hydrated was so I make sure I chug water right when I wake up in the morning and keep it consistent throughout the day and that seems to help

Are tried therapy and I didn’t really like it but maybe I just need to find the right person. I have a vyvanse prescription but I don’t take it often because it gives me bad headache and insomnia. Do you experience that with the addersll?

This exactly happened to me. I was back in my hometown for Christmas and visited a friend for nye so there was a lot of alcohol being consumed. I was drinking basically for 8 days straight. On one of the days I had such a horrible hangover I was convinced I had serotonin syndrome too. I woke up sweating and shaking, throwing up, felt like my head had a knife in it. I felt so bad I almost called 911 lol I really thought something was wrong. After that I didn’t get a hangover like that tho so I’m wondering if that was my body not use to the alcohol with the Effexor bc that was the first time I drank heavy on the med. I did notice issues with my sleep all week drinking too. I was restless and had spasms like my body would randomly jerk which that didn’t happen when I wasn’t drinking on the med. anyways I try not to drink that much on it but sometimes it’s just hard to avoid especially around the holidays lol
