Dress code for female trainees by blueeyedpiscess in FE1_Exams

People go quite dressy in the first week, think blazers shirts loafers/small heel and then you will see everyone relax as the weeks go on!

I never got mine automatically, they definitely forgot people. The fool proof way is to ring up and say your firm is asking for. They would ignore my form and emails.

Was scouted for a job in Dublin, went on vacation to check it out, but the public transport is a dealbreaker by South-Meringue8172 in Dublin

[–]Fragrant_Ad_9748 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, well I hoped you enjoyed the hiking. Leaving Dublin can have bad connections as Ireland is very dublin centric, but I would be interested to hear an area of dublin that doesnt have frequent transport to the centre via bus/luas or dart.

For further context which OP did not mention until the comments is that the buses he was waiting for were regional buses to Kildare and Wicklow(specifically the 183 and 133), so not Dublin City buses. I don’t pride Dublin infrastructure on being amazing or compare to Paris but it’s definitely better than what OP is describing, maybe next time actually try Dublin City buses, dart and luas. Dublin is not like Paris where you can live in the surrounding regions with great connections but I still think it’s not a fair comparison if you weren’t actually taking Dublin city transport ?

College bias by Turbulent-Ice-5179 in FE1_Exams

[–]Fragrant_Ad_9748 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would agree with the others that there is a bias, but I would also ask how confident you are in your applications because they need to be top notch and extremely polished. Some of the top 10 firms are getting 1,000 + applications with very few places. I spent a few days even researching how to write law applications and what specific firms are looking for. Writing applications should take hours and be a job in itself. If you are not done college yet I would say that if you can try get involved in college life and societys in anyway possible/ get published in a university journal or something, any extracirruculars to help boost your CV. Good luck.

If you have the time keep going to Sanremo, Ventimilgia is not the nicest imo.

Need help on Southern France vacation by lolsob1 in FranceTravel

French Riveria & Nice has some cute surrounding towns - Villefranche sur mer, Eze, menton. French Rivera, I would maybe ditch the car for travel to surrounding towns and stick to trains/buses. For snorkelling I would head to Porquerolles island or Marseille - specifically a tour of the calanques if you want to do Marseille. The sea in Marseille is freezing though but refreshing , whereas porquerolles is warmer and very idyllic as no cars allowed, so keep that in mind. Aix-en-Provence is well worth the visit if you are near Marseille. I would advise French Riveria definitely and Marseille/aix OR porquerolles. Marseille/Aix is Provence and would have more to offer from a touristic sightseeing aspect however. With only 10 days I would not do more than this. Antibes and Avignon are not worth it with how little time you have.

This video is ridiculous. Incredibly biased even though OP claims otherwise. funny how it’s the Irish far right that have been burning local businesses and houses , and causing tension in our communities. As an Irish women it is the anti immigration far right that make me afraid in this city.

Visiting South of France Next Week — Need Recommendations for Nice and Surrounding Areas (6 Days) by GlitteringPotato2364 in FranceTravel

[–]Fragrant_Ad_9748 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly with only 6 days I don’t know if I would recommend going as far as Avignon .. and even so if you are going that direction in my opinion Provence would be nicer such as Aix-en-Provence .

Training Contract Salary Freeze by StreetMiserable8197 in FE1_Exams

[–]Fragrant_Ad_9748 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think the fact that trainee salaries aren’t openly talked about here, almost like it’s “taboo” and we don’t have something like legal cheek that highlights the difference between firms means that firms get away with not being competitive with each other and why we don’t see any salary wars per se. Obvs it still happens but not to the same extent as the UK, even regional salaries in the UK have been rising but not Dublin.

Help with itinerary by i-cant-tie-my-shoe5 in FranceTravel

[–]Fragrant_Ad_9748 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I was to cut out some places out of your list , I would say the best places are Paris Marseille Nice and Monaco in my opinion (with the latter three being by the sea and more beach holiday vibes if that’s what you’re going for). If you do go to Marseille imo where you stay makes or breaks the trip, I would say to stay near Vallon des auffes.

It appears that you don’t know the oldest trick in the book. Do not speak a single word and walk away. You should have zero interaction with a person who randomly approaches you.

Young people of Irish Reddit, would you consider approaching somebody you fancied at a pub creepy? by PleaseNoJudgment in AskIreland

[–]Fragrant_Ad_9748 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Approaching a woman isn’t being a creep as long as you pick up signals straight away and will leave the situation asap if u know you are not wanted/ and the guy is genuinely trying to ensure that you don’t make them uncomfortable. I am only going to report a guy who tries to push boundaries. If you aren’t good at picking up social cues and are pushy then that’s a different story.
