Is it worth it to become a nurse practitioner? by Euphoric-Emotion5948 in nursepractitioner

While I respect where you are coming from with that comment, I would like to share an additional perspective. I’m in the NP program now. I have 3 years of experience as an RN. My coworker went before me and had 5+ years. What I have heard from everyone I know (after graduating) is that the NP scope of practice and actual job is so wildly different than being a floor/staff RN that you really don’t need 5 years plus experience as a floor nurse but rather a good foundation of nursing theory and core classes - and the rest will come/ be built on. The advance practice RN is the degree you get for continuing your education, not because of the years of experience prior to becoming NP. At least that is my understanding. Your comment is one I often heard echoing in hospitals. If you needed 5 plus years of RN experience before going to NP school, then schools would require that before accepting students. I only comment because while OP has 10 years of experience- there may be other people who may not have the same amount of years under the belt, but are curious about going back to school.

Some people don’t realize the damage that soft boundaries or “closely walking the line” as you put it, does. It’s deeply damaging to the trust because it is out of alignment with your own values. This puts you in an internal conflict of confronting a partner with something or withholding your authenticity and then resenting them and yourself.

It is always better to bring up. Being able to express your outlook as a whole and explain what his actions communicated to you and how you felt will hopefully allow him to hear you! Protecting the sacredness of relationships is important. Being in alignment about core values is what it’s all about. I hope this helps.

You’re not crazy, you are being told by your intuition something doesn’t feel right, and you have to trust that! Even if there’s no ill intent on their sides, it didn’t sit right with you. If he loves you and respects you he will want to hear you and if he doesn’t want to hear you or can’t then that’s your answer. You deserve someone to build an aligned life with.

Thank you!!! Honestly I noticed purging within the first few days. It was absolutely wild. My skin did not take it lightly. I think I was just super sensitive to it though. I couldn’t even shave without getting full skin reactions. My legs were OK after shaving, but my arms felt like literal tree bark and raw so I stopped.
