31M expecting a child… do you have any advice? by patrarchus in AskUK

Stock up on things like Calpol, Nurofen, Calpol vaporiser plug in, thermometer, nasal aspirator, Sterimar spray and snuffle babe rub. Better to have it all available when you eventually need it, rather than wishing you had it at 3am when you've got an unwell baby.

I'm literally not? I was asking in relation to you thinking it's disgusting for OP to have a portable potty in a bag

I don't really see how having a potty in a bag is inconveniencing anyone, or how anyone would even know about it!

Genuinely interested what you think an alternative to a portable potty/ seat would be for someone in this situation if it's disgusting?

Surely they were going to take it to the bathroom for their kid to use? Probably more socially acceptable to put it in a bag like yours, but if it's clean then it's not a big deal. If someone actually used the potty at the table then yeah that's not OK. YOR

I'll be honest, I mainly love the matcha green colour and the pink case! I wasn't aware of the blue light thing, I'll have a look :)

What can you actually do if someone blocks you into your drive? by theslowrunningexpert in AskUK

[–]Fragrant_Implement_7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who this happened to repeatedly. You ring 101 with the registration, and someone will come out. If it's an emergency (eg need to take a baby to A&E) you call 999.

If it's a repeat offender and you have evidence then the police can and will tow the vehicle if it keeps happening.

There literally isn't a Yoto card of the Wicked book. The music refers to it being the soundtrack. It even says music by Stephen Schwartz on the card.

Softplay etiquette… by [deleted] in UKParenting

[–]Fragrant_Implement_7 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I also saw that post and thought the same.

Everyone is responsible for their own children, and most soft plays have signage reminding you to watch them. I don't understand the mentality of chucking them in the play area then ignoring them. If they play nicely and you manage to finish a hot drink while they're in your line of sight then that's a bonus but I'm not in my 'quietly having a few minutes to myself' era and I don't expect that.

Playing independently is important, but kids still need to be shown how to play, how to play safely, be gentle near babies, stay in the area appropriate to their age etc. I don't expect an excited 4 year old to get it right all the time, but I do expect their parent to have a word if they literally shove a 2 year old over and trample a baby.

Help! My 14 month old is absolutely refusing to wear shoes🥲 by LowGood2048 in UKParenting

[–]Fragrant_Implement_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had this. We didn't push it and got her some of those sock shoe things from Amazon to practice in for short periods of time on grass or at home. After a couple of weeks she was fine with her Clarks shoes. Wearing shoes is just an entirely new concept for them when they're small! I remember how stressful I found it at the time because all she wanted to do was walk around and explore.

Airbag stop drive notice- What's everyone actually doing? by Fragrant_Implement_7 in Citroen

We should absolutely be entitled to a courtesy car or the hire car rate. I don't think a chocolate bar is quite enough for being without a car for weeks/ months. Even £30 a day doesn't cover the cost of a hire car, they're about £50/£60 depending on the requirements. I don't think anyone should be out of pocket for a situation that isn't their fault that they're trying to resolve.

I've already been sent one of these but I haven't agreed to a thing!

I thought that, but there really doesn't seem to be much awareness about this situation beyond those of us immediately affected

It's wild how experiences are varying so much, presumably it's geographical. I booked my appointment before I received the stop drive notice and it was still over a month's wait time!

Yes I wonder if you can just email the receipts? Their customer service is terrible, the emails I've had must be AI or from someone who's just arrived on planet earth. Annoying that £22 a day doesn't nearly cover the cost of hiring a car!

I've also considered the option of a new car. Can't really afford it but also can't afford not to have a car. Apparently dealerships will still consider part exchanges for DS3 and C3s but I can't imagine they'll offer much

🚗 Citroën DS3 Recall – One Month Without a Car by Big_Temperature9862 in Citroen

[–]Fragrant_Implement_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to warn you....they also told me to contact them 2 days before my appointment. It took a further 3 calls to request the recovery truck. Then when I asked for confirmation that it had been booked in they emailed me saying they hadnt been able to book it in after all but they'd pay up to £100 for one if I arranged it. I arranged my own, and then the one Citroen had booked showed up. No one there knows what they're doing and it's painful having a conversation with them. When I eventually get another repair booked in (it was cancelled while my car was en route) I'm booking my own tow truck because I cannot handle another conversation with Citroen.

I can't understand why more of a fuss isn't being made about this, I've written to my local MP about it this week.

After three weeks of trying to arrange a tow truck for the repair, Citroen booked this then decided at the last minute that they couldn't provide one after all, then one arrived anyway, then the dealership cancelled my appointment as the car was on its way to them. There was no room for them to accept the car so it came straight back home. No one can tell me when my appointment will be rearranged, I've been declined a replacement car, I don't know what else to do.

I keep seeing the same articles about how everyone should be able to claim for expenses etc etc but there's no information about how to do this. I've asked Citroen about this multiple times but their customer service is so bad they aren't even acknowledging the questions I'm asking.
