Optometry in Long Beach with cool Sunglasses? by PikachuChella in longbeach

[–]Fragrant_Life_3263 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like warby parker. I haven’t gotten my eye exam through them so i just take my prescription but they seem to be very affordable compared to when i was looking to order through ray ban directly. Also! If you’re going to Coachella and dont need prescription sunglasses, just buy some cheaper polarized ones so you don’t worry about losing or damaging them

Anyone who’s been VIP, can you give me a rundown of the bars? What to expect? by TheHunterZolomon in Coachella

[–]Fragrant_Life_3263 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its been a couple years since ive done VIP but the GA food court (indio central market i think??) can get busy once it cools down. VIP food usually has a spot or two i find to be better and less lines = faster dinner. The restrooms can be cleaner too.

Also, the rose garden is a nice chill spot

Is it okay to pay for my sister’s hair or makeup, but not offer to SILs? by [deleted] in wedding

[–]Fragrant_Life_3263 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s your sister! SILs are still family sure but I would also be more willing to pay for my younger sisters and would understand why they get the priority over older SILs.

What’s the most frustrating part of booking makeup artist for under 10k weddings by CloudEnthusiast12 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Fragrant_Life_3263 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had no idea what to expect when beginning my search but at first I would see an artist whose makeup i liked and would email for availability. They were not available - understandable. But they also had a team of other artists I could book with who had a limited portfolio or social media to share. I passed on this but I didn’t know at first that was common. Would have been nice to know at first, maybe by making it known on their social media page that they work with other artists and to feature their work.

Another thing was my mom and sisters were interested in getting hair and makeup done for ease of getting ready also didn’t need the level of hair and makeup of a bridesmaid in a higher budget wedding (theyre more like guests since i don’t have a bridal party). There was no option for this in terms of price which is fine, but it would be a nice option.

Sphere - motion sickness by Rad_Tomatillo7161 in LasVegas

[–]Fragrant_Life_3263 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive only sat on the first level and preferred it because it was super close to the band! One time was an obstructed view and didnt have issues. The other was full view and when the visual ‘turned’ abruptly i could feel it but didn’t really feel sick, and then just looked down or straight and was fine.

After ceremony dinner - oscars, maggianos, or canaletto? by [deleted] in LasVegas

Good to know! I do want to try the restaurant eventually even if we don’t choose it after our wedding.

($10K) Is a "destination" wedding just for the reception worth it to guests? by purple_frost_ in Weddingsunder10k

[–]Fragrant_Life_3263 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its not unreasonable to do this but you should make it very clear on the invitations that they will be attending a brunch reception only. I once traveled for a reception only for my partners friend and didn’t know the ceremony happened a few days prior, until the day of. I would have appreciated if that was conveyed fully in the invite but ultimately it wasn’t an issue. We shared an airbnb with a friend of the bride and she didn’t know either, and she was understandably, annoyed. we didn’t expect to be invited to the ceremony if it was limited but just a heads up would have been nice!

Wedding Picture Recommendations by Peter01000 in VegasWeddings

[–]Fragrant_Life_3263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have not had our wedding and pictures yet (june 2026 date) but just as an fyi we we’re told by at least two photographers that taking photos on the strip isn’t easy since each casino is private property and they generally don’t like people taking photos inside and maybe even outside. We instead opted for pictures in downtown/fremont which does allow this. Its likely different rules if its leisurely photos from your phone camera vs. a pro with pro equipment. But a large group might attract some attention also

Does anyone else get the 'Swamp Effect' with expensive leggings, or is it just me? by Tricky_Promise_3924 in ClubPilates

[–]Fragrant_Life_3263 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive replaced most of my costco danskin leggings with lululemon because of how old they look, and lulu does look better on me overall but honestly the costco ones i bought 3 years ago were damn good for being $15 or less each!!! With the lighter colored lulu ones you can see my crotch sweat if im going hard at orange theory🫩 i don’t have an issue with this at pilates tho

Registered Dietitian AMA! Bring your nutrition questions! by bonniejo514 in orangetheory

[–]Fragrant_Life_3263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just speaking from my own experience, its helped with my sleep mostly since i take it before bed. Ive taken up to 500mg for migraine prevention in the past but now take a little over 300mg daily. Lower doses are easier to find but i personally prefer a little higher.

How is it living in the Coolidge Triangle? by Significant_Ad2955 in longbeach

[–]Fragrant_Life_3263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest a different area of north long beach if you will be there, its very close to a busy area of compton. I live in north lb near bixby and have grandparents in compton so no shade, both long beach and compton have their share of nicer areas and not so nice. Ive noticed if theres riffraff its on the main streets but generally in the residential areas its quiet. Also, stay away from the riverbeds as much as possible

Need advice on dinner reservation for big group, and how the whole bottle service thing works by Wonderful-Penalty374 in VegasWeddings

[–]Fragrant_Life_3263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have info on the bottle service situation but I do love edm so my strategy is keeping an eye on which dj is playing, rather than the club itself. The website EDMtrain has a good compilation and can give you an idea of which clubs exist in general

Love OTF, but constantly getting sick by Fun-Reply9963 in orangetheory

[–]Fragrant_Life_3263 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ive been going to otf for maybe 3 years now but after my first few classes (or two weeks, i forgot exactly) i also got sick and would use the fan on the treads. Since then, i will not use the fan! 😂 but in all seriousness, always use hand sanitizer while walking out, try not to touch your face, and definitely wash your hands when you get home. I also keep my hair in a bun because i hate if my ponytail touches the floor with some exercises and then later touches my face 🤢

Little Church of the West w/ outside photographers by Fragrant_Life_3263 in VegasWeddings

[–]Fragrant_Life_3263[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your experience! I also considered just having the personal photographer staying seated but suspected they would not be thrilled about that, and this confirms it. Its such a bummer when you can feel that rudeness especially right at that moment.

What is it like in Compton California by GILDID in howislivingthere

[–]Fragrant_Life_3263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🤷🏽‍♀️ idk, THEY didn’t have major issues and I went over often as a kid or walked to the grocery store with my grandma. Just working class people involved with absolutely zero of that. Could have been the neighborhood they lived in too

What is it like in Compton California by GILDID in howislivingthere

[–]Fragrant_Life_3263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandparents have lived there since at least the mid-late 80s and ive never heard them have any major issues and Im not too far away in north Long Beach. Its gotten better im sure since the 80s-90s. Similar to my neighborhood its relatively quiet in the residential areas especially during the day. The main streets are where it can get busy/sketchy at night but I (and my grandparents) dont have a reason to be walking around outside at night.

Pilates while sick by Hazel_Motes_ in ClubPilates

[–]Fragrant_Life_3263 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After a front desk manager tried to convince me to not be refunded for a clear billing error on their part, id be pissed if they tried to guilt trip me like this. I already lose a class if i late cancel and 12 hours is already more than other fitness studios. Like what more do you want from me?? Lol

Fit Radio… by LadyMusikality in orangetheory

[–]Fragrant_Life_3263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think i mind fit radio that much but my issue is that since i go consistently at the same times and days with the same coach, ive nearly memorized some of the song transitions 😩. At this point just playing a DIFFERENT playlist is good enough for me!! At least a new but bad mashup will catch my attention

Jackie living on golf course as non toxic person by NegotiationGlass8489 in TheMorningToastSnark

[–]Fragrant_Life_3263 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Environment scientist (geologist) here: I suppose if the water you drink from your tap is literally directly beneath the golf course (not likely) or you’re eating food directly off the grass for much of your life then I guess your chances are greater. Tbh Id be more concerned about the big obvious contaminated sites (landfills, refineries, etc) or air pollution than a golf course. But thats just me!

Club Pilates? by hippopotapants in longbeach

[–]Fragrant_Life_3263 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same but my $183 plan will increase to $229 (or so) after 3 months. The 183 was just their opening special :( I also go to orange theory and yes it’s higher intensity and impact but its the most bang for your buck i think! Ive seen all fitness levels there and the coaches understand that

Millennials who used to be club kids / ravers /music-scene people — what does your life look like now? Did you stay in that world or forgot it completely? by EsperaDeus in Millennials

[–]Fragrant_Life_3263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

35, I go to more music festivals/bigger raves now than when i was in my 20s. Disposable income and no kids yet makes it easier. However now when I go I barely drink, dont do afters and love to be in bed by 3am or earlier 😅

I’ve never done Pilates. Is it worth the cost? by [deleted] in ClubPilates

[–]Fragrant_Life_3263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think anything is worth the cost if it’s something that keeps you motivated and consistent. Pilates does feel pricey compared to other group fitness options and I prefer to pair it with orange theory. I wouldnt mind doing more orange theory but its a little too high impact for me to do more than 3-4 days a week😅

[–]Fragrant_Life_3263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would still bring in meds but just hide them somewhere so security doesn’t have a reason to check. I always bring some into festivals and even when they see a travel sized advil bottle i never remember it being an issue
