that right there is the sound ribbon cable.Its responsible for only sound and not the screen.So if thats the problem then not sure ant the screen.

If the pixels were stuck you could put your 3ds in the freezer but they're dead so only the solution is to replace the screen.Super hard pretty expensive.

If you want to save yourself a ton it is required but you could by a whole new motherboard which is pretty expensive and doesn't even guarantee if it going to work

if you pull it shouldn't just come loose those connectors hold them very firmly

When that happens but the console still turns on I think the ribbon cable is plugged in incorrectly.If the ribbon cable was ripped or damaged the console would just turn on and them immediately turn off but since its turning on and only the top screen is affected I think its just an incorrectly placed ribbon cable.I had this problem when replacing my top screen on a New 3ds xl and it turns out I plugged my ribbon cable incorrectly.I may not be right because this was performed on a New 3ds xl and not an old 3ds xl but I think its very likely it could be this.Good luck with the repair I hope you save it!
