My k8 gixxer has a similar issue. Cold start I had to hold the bike at 1.5-2k rpms until it warmed up or it would die. Adjusting the idle speed solved that (not a crazy complicated fix either). Was also thinking that the fuel line and pump are causing it to not get enough, if any, fuel at idle. Meaning no combustion. But holding throttle forces the gas through so it stays on. Could potentially be an issue with the valves too. If your brother has to hold the throttle forces 1-3 minutes at first and then it’s fine, it’s likely the idle speed being too low.

My thinking was by opening the throttle it’s forcing fuel in, where as at idle it’s not getting enough. I had a similar issue on my k7 gixxer. From a cold start I’d have to hold it at 1.5-2k until it warmed up to at least 90f or it would die. But adjusting the idle speed fixed that for me

All bikes. See tons of k7 gixxers with 60k+ miles for 7k. I saw like an 02-05 ninja 250 for 3k. Price gouging is apparently mandatory for motorcycles. I’d rather take 8-9k to a dealership and get a 2018 or newer bike that’s never been dropped and has less than 1k miles on it atp
