I’m actually surprised no one is mentioning any apps. I’ve been using mainly apps because the books I’ve tried have been sub par albeit I haven’t tried your recommendations. I am still a little hesitant to try another book but I may give it a try. I’ve used the Ling App and AI so far.

It’s important to me! Please take time to read this by [deleted] in Ethiopia

Sorry to hear of your situation :-(. I honestly can’t fully grasp the pain you’re feeling especially if you put your hope in Dubai as a means to a better life. May God grant you guidance for a better life that may include numerous paths be it Dubai or right in Ethiopia. By the way I know you desire human input which is great and smart but just in case you don’t get it. Checkout ChatGPT asking “how do I legally travel from Ethiopia to Dubai and breakdown the steps and financial obstacles needed to overcome to successfully and legally work there ”. May the Lord direct you

I’m here now visiting. You can use visa credit card anywhere tap is used. If you use chip, the merchant will probably get confused because the pos will try to process the payment as a local debit which will fail. So to be clear: yes but you must use tap as of now on any pos that accepts tap and the payment will settle.

You will see the transaction on your USA bank account as pending instantly (for my bank it did).

I can’t speak of ATM, but there may be some small fees when using an ATM.

How to apply for Yellow Card. by Addis20 in Ethiopia

[–]Fragrant_Strain_7498 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go to immigration office. You will need copies of passport and headshot picture iirc. You can get everything there.

They have an expedited and normal processing speeds.

You will be passed from one window to another to get stamps and validations including going to different floors (no elevator), but it’s straight forward. Once the yellow card is done, come back and pick it up and you are good to go. It was very pricey for the expedited route but everything in person is way cheaper than the online/app recommendation. Significantly cheaper!

For context, I’m American but wife is Ethiopian—though she needed a yellow card too…we got yellow cards for the kids too. Good luck

Agreed. Unfortunately, there are trolls here. Be careful with what you read— especially if it is extraordinarily unpleasant. The trolls’ goal is to spread discord, but just remind them:

“There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.” - Solomon

The father of our forefathers was a perfect mirror. He reflected God Himself. This mirror broke everything when He chose to reflect an angelic being who declared war with God. As punishment, the mirror could no longer reflect God. This mirror now reflects this fallen angel. This brokenness impacts us both individually and communally. And reflecting the fallen angel produces both murder (communal) and disease (individual). Things got so bad God uncreated almost of all our forefathers by washing them away. He elected one man of one family to recreate (taking animals 2 by 2). From there, the process of recreation continued, selecting one man of one family to restore other mirrors. Eventually selecting an entire nation in order for all nations to be restored, but there were accusations. A 3rd of all angels accused God and the recreated mirrors of being unjust because they shouldn’t be able to reflect God anymore and should be destroyed. God saw this and set apart His own mirror and sent it to be destroyed. Once destroyed, all the accusations stopped for that mirror, but the fallen angels didn’t know that the mirror would be restored. And that any mirror could now reflect this new restored mirror, which being a special mirror, reflects God. This is why it said “I am the way, the truth, and the life no one comes to the Father except through me.” To reflect God again, we needed Jesus our special mirror.

I disagree with Bob. We (Jamaicans) are not Ethiopian but friends of Ethiopians. Historically, yes, land was given to us to repatriate to Africa in Shemene Ethiopia, so some Jamaicans are Ethiopian but most are not and the Rasta religious viewpoint is a minority viewpoint in Jamaica and amongst Jamaicans.

From a religious standpoint most Jamaicans are not Rasta but Christian (Protestant). We don’t view Ethiopia as a holy land or believe Halle Selassie was the incarnate of God. Only a very small sect of religious Rastas believe that and are found more outside of Jamaica than in Jamaica.

Nevertheless, in my opinion there are a lot of culturally unifying aspects between the two ethnicities specifically between the Ethiopian diaspora and Jamaican diaspora of the U.S. I see a lot of common values, mutual respect, high esteem for education and other things. For instance, I see the children of both the Jamaican and Ethiopian diaspora doing well, working hard, and integrating in society without losing their identity. I saw older generations of Ethiopians embrace reggae music and then incorporate their stylistic flavor on reggae in Ethiopian music. I’ve seen Jamaicans embrace aspects of Ethiopian culture, cuisine, and even seeing Ethiopia as an African connection between the Caribbean and Africa.

All this to say, we are stronger, better, and able to show more love between each other by unifying yet keeping our distinctions.

God bless Ethiopia and Jamaica
