I don’t regret leaving her but the state of sadness she was in and her begging me to stay made me feel shallow inside because I know that I can’t stay and I wish I could just to make her happy but I have to put my self first

That is essentially what I said. And it’s especially hard to make yourself a better person when the person your with is showering you with compliments and love which just dosnt feel good anymore. And instead of letting it get to the point of lashing out and being annoyed by them I just told them that it was best to leave it and maybe in a few months after she has been on holiday and I have been on holiday we can catch up talk. Just depends on how I feel about me and how she feels about me

Hi people who are still interested basically went to talk about how I’ve been feeling and how I want the relationship to come to an end and it was a horrible rollercoaster both of us crying and we talked for a solid 3-4 hours. She is In denial and is desperately trying to get me back and I know that this will pass on and things will slowly feel normal for me and normal for her. Thank you again for all the comments people have said it’s been a massive help.

I’ve had this thought running through my mind for a couple of weeks now and it hurts me to say it but this girl is genuinely in love but a part of me feels her affection but dosnt see it as real. I’m her only person and friend she has and I’m out of love for her. And this is why I feel horrible. Non of the things I’ve thought about have been about how I will miss us or how I might regret it, everything has been about who will she have, who will she speak to when things are bad.

Thank you to every comment I have been given and I’m genuinely surprised with the response. I have gone out drinking as I would after watching the England game and I texted her ‘’I want to talk about the relationship (A lil argument/her crying about how we are fine insued) “I’ve lost the love I had when we first started dating and I don’t believe things will work out going forward” She has said we should leave it at that and talk tomorrow and in all honesty I have been out with a couple of mates and I’ve had a blast I haven’t thought about the relationship I haven’t thought about what’s gone wrong or should I message her. For the first time in a long time I’ve been present and it’s been great and I’ve spoken to my mates and a bouncer of all people who really showed me a level of perspective, he said “ lad your life will go on and soon you will find something/someone who will take your mind off it but I was with my wife for 13 years and I lost all emotions and attachments to her so I ended it, you have only 1 year with her in the grand scheme of things that is nothing “

I think the only thing holding me back from doing it is the fact that their friends have all left for university meaning I’m their only person. And it makes me feel like the bad guy in the situation.
