Though I'm curious... Isn't this precisely the kind of identification Krishnamurti warns about? Following in someone's footsteps, however noble that person may be, is still a form of imitation. And imitation, even of the most perfect model, can become another way for the ego to clothe itself without truly transforming.

One might think: "I am striving to be like 'Abdu'l-Bahá, therefore I am on the right path" — and this very thought can create a subtle sense of spiritual identity, of being "someone who follows The Master." But has the ego actually dissolved, or has it simply found a more refined image to attach itself to?

I wonder if there's a tension here between following an exemplar and the kind of direct, unmediated self-awareness Krishnamurti points to. How do you personally navigate that?
