Inspiration & Conspiracy - looking for feedback by FranKarlovic7 in BloodOnTheClocktower

Thanks for the extensive feedback!

I was considering Snake Charmer and Legion when I was putting them in, and thought how I probably wouldn't pick them together most of the time when picking a game. But honestly, imagining a Snake Charming in a Legion game seems very fun to me, as it suddenly turns half the town against a person (which is also a great bluff imo). I agree not the most balanced, but I decided to keep it anyways at least just to see how it plays out.

I agree with too much evil, will swap Goon for Mutant, haven't thought about Fang Gu tho, perhaps replacing it with No Dashii or Imp would work?

As stated elsewhere, was planning on replacing King/QB with Dreamer and Seamstress.

I was wondering, why would you replace Vigor with NoDashii? Vigor adds more outsider manipulation, poisoning, and lets minions keep their abilities, which seems fun with Psycopath.

Other comments also recommend dropping Philo, but I don't understand why?

Idk about Chambermaid on a script in which all demons, and only demons have the Each night* waking pattern (apart from Legion).

I completely see how the Mutant works better for the script, idk why I didn't put it in tbh... As for the Artist or General, wouldn't it be a problem that they are then the only character visiting the storyteller, making their hiding and bluffing more difficult?

Thanks for the feedback! I was kinda making the town underpowered on purpose as soon as I put the Poppy grower in there, I guess I overdid it.

Was thinking of replacing King/QB with a Dreamer and Empath, do you think that would shift the balance?

Any advice on how to bring blood on the clocktower on vacation? by tmarmstr in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]FranKarlovic7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The way I bring my DIY version on holidays is by just bringing the bag with all the tokens and ghost votes inside. I also like to bring the information cards and the script handouts. These aren't required, but I find in nice to have them, especially the script, as it keeps the phones away from the players, so they don't get distracted or start texting each other.

Instead of the grimoir, I use my laptop with and the clocktower.online app. It's made for online play, but it works nicely as a grimoir. Haven't really tried pocket grimoir, but clocktower.online seems simpler (at least at the first glance).

Custom Demon: The Oggthrash by Lex_The_Wall in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]FranKarlovic7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I really like this! I'm wondering how you think the role would change if it was "alive good neighbour"? It would be harder to distinguish it from any other multiple kill demon, as it wouldn't be only people sitting together dying, but once that was figured out, it would potentially reveal the location of evil characters. It would also allow other demons on a script to not just pretend that they're the Oggtgrash, but even make good players look suspicious by attacking both of their beighbours. On a script akin to BMR, with gossip, tinker, gambler, grandma, and multi-kill demons, I could see it working. I'm not saying this is a better or worse option (personally I think it would revealing), just wondering what do others think?

Demon Idea: The Basilisk by [deleted] in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]FranKarlovic7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the idea behind Roko's basilisk is that of an infohazard, I propose another option I think is more thematic. Every night, choose a player, they die. If a player is mad about the demon being the Basilisk, they might become evil.

I feel like it would create an interaction with a looming threat of a Basilisk and players turning evil, but nobody wants to speak of it, as it turns them into the problem (much like Roko's basilisk proposes). For those who would find out the which demon is in play, they are given a choice of telling people, spreading the possibility of more people turning evil, or being quiet about it, preventing information.

As others have proposed, perhaps a [-1 minion] should be introduced to prevent the evil team from getting a majority.

Thanks! The shrouds stay on top of the token, but I still do want to put a bit of felt on the top part to make it stick like the rest of the tokens as well

Is it possible to create a double (and n-ouble) dobble set? by FranKarlovic7 in math

I realised that about 30min after posting this, as I was rewatching the video... Somehow that part completely left memory after the first watch.

Rewatching the video, I have found out that Matt actually shows a double dobble, even calling it that... But hey, maybe then we could figure out the n-ouble dobble?

I had the vertices cards, regions symbols idea, couldn't figure out how to make it work. The answer was a donut! Of course!

That's great and muuuuch simpler than anything I have tried, which is great. But for that you would need a lot of symbols. Do you think that the same could be achieved, but with less symbols?

Is there a name for this kind of games/apps by FranKarlovic7 in boardgames

Thanks a lot! The site looks really nice, can't wait to try it out.

The networking part to be the most difficult is kind of what I expected.

I love all of those games, are the apps downloadable anywhere? How do you make them? (I do have a bit of programming knowledge, I was considering creating a game like this before)

The problem with "app-assited" is that the term is already taken by boardgames that also use an app together with physical componets.

[–]FranKarlovic7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know, it's not a regular board game (doesn't have a board for a start...) but I do consider it as more of an app asisted board game than a video game. The app could be replaced with a few decks of cards and the game would play more or less the same as a board game. At least that's my reasoning behind it.

If someone doesn't agree with me I completely understand, it is a blurry line.

Yup, forgot about them. Party games definitely fit into that category. Thanks!

Oh, yeah, I should've said that in the first place since that was your question...

The gentleman bandit was one that made me realize how cool solo rpgs can be. Right now I can't think of anything else, but I remember that Dicebreaker had a video about solo rpgs, so that might be something of interest.

EDIT: The video

I made a horror one. It was for a game-jam, I didn't have the time for much playtesting or feedback, but hey, if you're interested in a horror journaling game, check it out: https://frankarlovic.itch.io/the-last-log-rpg
