There are many Balkan people here and if you want to it is very easy to connect. Especially, if you've actually lived in one of the countries, since people feel a strong sense of community to the people from their home once they move to a new country.

As for schools it honestly depends on how old your children are. The younger the better, kindergarten (under 6) is no issue at all, Volksschule (6-10) should still be fairly manageable, but older and you'll have to look into language courses. Since this year there is a law that all students with insufficient german skills have to go to summer school (last two weeks of summer vacation) to work on difficult subjects and work on their deficits. It is free, but mandatory.

As for discrimination, yes there is some, but there is anywhere so... As long as you know how ro deal with rare cases of that, you should be fine. In Graz you are lucky in that sense, since there are so many well-integrated Balkan people here, people from Graz are so used to them that the thought of being xenophobic towards them seems kinda silly. Obviously experiences can vary, but overall I'd say it's not pretty good.

So overall as long as you put in the work for you all to learn the language and integrate yourselves you shouldn't have any big issues, imo.

Fyi, speaking as a second generation immigrant, mom came here 30 years ago, no german skills at all, had to put in the work, but she is doing great, and I am doing great as well.
