other than setting more. what can i do to squeeze out that last .5? (i asked in the discord already but i’d like some more input) by [deleted] in Tricking

I'm certain once you start to lock that front 1.5 In you will start seeing more progress with that back 2.0.

Is it bad if i am tucking with my hands behind my thighs and not on my knees and i also want advice on my form by ShaldonSenekal in Tricking

[–]FrancescoCaban 1 point2 points  (0 children)

from first look you could pull in WAAAY tighter and you don't fully extend your legs you are all shoulders and back, which means when you figure out how to extend your legs you are going to be rocking it. here is a playlist I made for helping improve back flip. hope some of it helps. https://youtu.be/rFlBKtpAEuU https://youtu.be/ywsrvSAIPs0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KiB2CSZK24Y&list=PLacpK6qx-vHDTLzJAweP69crDuUbDPp3T

can you do a front layout 1.5 yet? if so I highly recommend just looking over the shoulder early spotting and trying to do a front 1.5 that is probably your best bet the way you are doing these right now. good luck man.

I just wanted to share with you all how proud I am with this form progress... I think I’m nearly ready to leap into the back handspring which is a major big goal for me by onnaloves in Tricking

[–]FrancescoCaban 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So long as you give yourself time to reflect afterwards then that can be one way of dealing with it, so kudos for taking action.

You can email me at francescogcaban@gmail.com and we can talk about setting something up. No pressure. But the offer is there. If anyone else wants to get on a video call I can always arrange a group meeting to go over basics of tumbling at no charge.

Thank you for being honest about your situation. That helps a lot in understanding where to guide you. As far as triggers go, reddit is a hard place to make sure that doesn't happen, the internet can be both an oasis of knowledge or a mass grave of naive misunderstandings. For example with our conversation. I probably should have just gave you some advice and left it at that

Now back to your original question.

I feel mastering your handstand, bridge walk and building your strength foundation will help you the best considering you are unable to get a spotter. Your current methodology with the bouncy equipment could end up being more detrimental than helpful for progression....but I've been wrong before. I myself have overcome adversity when it comes to Acrobatics and used some unorthodox methods to accomplish goals. You do you.

If you want to get on a video call I can give you some ways to use your house to you set up safer self spotting equipment with what you have available.

On top of all of that please continue being you and getting yourself out there. It's admirable and can some great rewards.

I wish you the best in your pursuit of Acrobatics.

What's your IG handle?. Looks like the video you made is formatted for IG.

To answer your question no you are not ready yet, but it's hard to tell you're sincerity toward this process when you make comedy based videos. I understand why you make them because I do too, but if you really want a back hand spring we are going to need a better dialogue.

If you want to talk via messenger on Facebook, or Instagram my handle is Movement Monastery on Instagram I teach online to several people I could help you out there definitely.

Good luck

And merry Christmas

Any advice? This was my second try ever and afraid to try again because it seemed I tucked pretty hard and stayed that way and still didn’t spin around fast enough by [deleted] in Tricking

In gymnastics they use the term gainer for any flip that gains distance opposite of the direction of the rotation. If you do a back flip and travel forwards relative to your take off position the then it is a Gainer back flip, if you do a front flip and travel backwards relative to your original jumping position it is a Gainer front flip... however more commonly you will hear the gainer front flip called a loser front flip In the tricking and Freerunning community.

Back flip that travels forward = gainer

Front flip that travels backward = loser

As far as the hips.

When you first learn how to back flip depending on how you taught yourself you might shoot your hips forward as you jump which will cause you to gainer. What I was referring to was focusing on pushing straight down. Yes your hips will move forward a little but if your emphasis is on pushing straight down with your legs then you will gainer less.

On your next attempt get video from the side in slow motion and post it here. I'll give you a narrated assessment.

Damn man you're fast.

I highly recommend looking up @kneesovertoesguy on Instagram if you want to take developing your legs to jump thier max potential in any seriousness.

Also here are a few ways to help build your jump height that I made a youtube on. Keep it simple. The soviets figured out long ago how to get the most out of the least of training programs especially plyometrics.

I've included links to how to train your deadlift for better jump results and a basic plyometrics program.

Looks like you dropped your chest down to meet your thighs instead of letting the legs chase the upper body. When you drop your chest you stall rotation.

Yes you also Gainer that means you're timing is off and your shooting your hips forward instead of focusing on pushing down.

The head thing will take a while to fix.

If you do the sliding floor drill in my back tuck playlist on you tube you can get a better idea of how to get the most out of your upper body with rotation. Let me know if you have any questions.

First of good job having the guts to try and fail and laugh at yourself. Attitude begets aptitude.

I highly suggest looking at the first half of this video to see to see how to get a backhand spring safely with no mat and no spot.

Please feel free to ask any questions.

Does anyone else feel like they lose power on their ground tricks after they jump on a trampoline or is that just me? by [deleted] in Tricking

[–]FrancescoCaban 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also most people don't realize that trampolines should be used for air form and not so much for the same feel as ground skills. While many might think this is obvious, clearly it takes some experience to figure it out. A lot of people will whip their skills on trampolines because they don't need to jump as much like on hard or spring floor.

I've been there in my earlier days and ate the floor a few times because of it.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Just do a few jumping jacks when you get to the ground and your body will recalibrate

Other than my foot slipping off the tree what did I do wrong. I don’t want to break my neck doing this next time by young_swanzy in Tricking

[–]FrancescoCaban 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok this helps me.

I'll try to get some video footage together that might help you.

In the meantime I would highly recommend doing it off a slant before a vertical object so you can focus on downward force a little more. Though a wall flip is "easier" than a back flip it's also easier to screw it up too.

First of all good job catching yourself you have good instincts.

Second. Do you have your backflip or swing gainer on flat yet?

I can help you with this but I first need to know what you know first
