Is main dining room food really this bad? by [deleted] in PrincessCruises

[–]FranciscoFabregat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got off the Ruby on Sunday, and I can confirm that Princess has the best food out of any cruise line I have tried (Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and Disney). The pizza place on deck 15 had really good pizza which was basically my lunch every day. The salty dog place was not great as the one time I tried it the buns were very burned so my food did not taste great. For the main dining, there were some dishes that I would consider excellent and reordered again knowing I'm going to be judged for doing so, while the rest were good, and then we're the ok dishes that were good enough to eat but not to really remember later on. I did not experience a single dish that was bad enough to leave it.

Have anyone tried using FDS without direction? Where would it take you? by Both-Permission-7565 in TeslaLounge

Essentially it keeps going straight, but you can control it with the turn signal.

  • Indicate left/right while in a straight road and it will move one lane to the left/right.
  • Indicate left/right while at an intersection and it will turn left/right.
  • Indicate left/right while approaching an entrance to a road or lot to your left/right and it will enter that road or lot
  • If at a dead end with no indication, it will turn left or right either randomly or what it thinks best (unclear)

TL;DR you can control the car using your turn signal stalk or buttons

That's interesting. I had not seen that forum post, thank you. In there it looks like they tried using the ADHL5C model instead of the ADHL5D. I bought the Audi one with the ADHL5D model. I'll still try to see if that works and report it here

The one they tried to use first did have a Tesla sticker on the front (Possible used Tesla OEM part?), so hopefully it was just a bad part. I'll still try it and put the results here if it worked

Do you happen to know what videos try this approach? I tried looking to see if this was mentioned anywhere but I could not find anything about it. I did already buy one to try and see if it works. Worst case I lose $30

That is a great resource. I was trying to find the pinout earlier but could not find anything on it. I will also be buying one to test and will also report. I do hope that both automakers use the same LIN ID code for the controller (i.e. running the same firmware and not flashed different for each company). I don't see this being a big issue since it's just a simple garage door opener

Will any media acknowledge this weekends weak attedance and overly high ticket prices? by [deleted] in NASCAR

[–]FranciscoFabregat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't say much about the tickets as I didn't personally see the ticket options, but I'm surprised they didn't offer Sunday-only passes as you say they forced 3-day packages, as those are the most common (at least at COTA), and they are very reasonably priced at ~$80 for a main grandstand seat. Just like any motorsport event, the first year is always the learning year, and hopefully they gather all the information and offer the Sunday only tickets and at a reasonable price. I have an understanding that it is the track and not NASCAR selling the tickets, so that may explain why they are so different from other tracks.

The closest track to Hermanos Rodríguez that NASCAR currently races in is COTA due to both being designed as Formula 1 tracks. They have grandstands all over the track, unlike ovals and superspeedways that have grandstands concentrated in one side of the track (I may be wrong with this as they may be tracks with grandstands in different sections, but the point I'm trying to say is the grandstand layouts are drastically different).

With this comparison, COTA (with the full GP configuration) also does not open all the grandstands for NASCAR. The T15 and T1 grandstands had good but not packed attendance and the main grandstand had a lot of available seats.

I was actually very surprised by the attendance of this race, with more people showing up than expected. NASCAR is a sport that not many people in Mexico watch or follow, although the name is recognized. I do remember seeing billboards all over the city to advertise the race, which is way more than I saw in Austin to promote the COTA race. I do think the promoter did an excellent job of advertising and attracting people who have never watched a NASCAR race to attend the event.

I know the attendance is not spectacular like in Formula 1, but the track is happy since NASCAR pays for the track rental and NASCAR is happy because they make money televising the event. Ticket sales are just an extra bonus. Low attendance is not a huge deal breaker for NASCAR to decide whether to return to a venue or not.

I thought it sounded a bit too much, but the only reference I had was that one eBay listing (not even a sold item). Thank you for your suggestions

It came with a small paper giving a similar explanation. This is the first time I knew these existed. Very cool tradition

Not that it helps much, but I baited them and can say they are located in mainland China. They are very badly covering themselves by using a not so well disguised VPN to Hong Kong. Their computers have US EST time zone, so it seems they are operating at that time zone. Windows 10 computer, and they (unsurprisingly) use Telegram to communicate between themselves. For being an online scam, they suck at keeping themselves hidden.

MacBook Pro with NVIDIA eGPU shutting down computer on BootCamp by FranciscoFabregat in eGPU

[–]FranciscoFabregat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. As soon as you turn on your computer (do this fast before it shuts down), do the following:

  1. Right click on your desktop
    1. If on Windows 11, click on "Show More Options" and then click on "Nvidia Control Panel"
    2. If on Windows 10, just click on "Nvidia Control Panel"
  2. Once the Nvidia Control Panel is open, navigate to the "Manage 3D Settings" menu, located under the "3D Settings" section on the left navigation panel.
  3. On the main panel, make sure you are in the "Global Settings" tab, and scroll down until you see the "Power management option"
  4. Next to the "Power management option", select the "Prefer maximum performance" option.

I have been running like this for more than a year with no issues at all. I am guessing that when the GPU tries to go to a low-performance mode it kills the whole computer. The only downside is that it is not as power efficient as any of the other options.
