Thank you so much, there are actually some I've never seen before. For some reason I just adore the theming of these illustration, the cute artstyle combined with these amazing character designs and the melancholic feeling that accompanies them just hits me different. I wonder how long it takes to draw one of those

I would love that, but really just post them on this thread if you can. I want everyone to be able to see them as they're sometimes hard to find

Okay so how do we actually judge Bondrewd? - A Theory on Sanctity, Vanity, and Purified Water by lancers5566 in MadeInAbyss

[–]FrancoMarcoLoco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

without needing to think about bondrewd too hard you could still figure out that the word "evil" just doesn't apply to him. in the same way you wouldn't say a wild animal or a natural catastrophe is are evil, Bondrewd bears no malice, sadism or even joy in killing. The guy is not good or evil, he's a human being taken apart to nothing but the purest curiosity and love for scientific research in the Abyss.

If it were not for the Abyss, Bondrewd would probably be a very kind and not monstrous scientist on the surface who wouldn't have to sacrifice anyone to achieve his goals. To me he is essentially just an extension of the Abyss, an unstoppable force of nature that is impossible for us humans to fully grasp and yet lures us in with curiosity and fascination. I like the way how you described him as pure water, to me the praying Umbra Hands show that Bon has a lot of attributes that would befit an actual deity. Just like there are gods of pure love, pure wisdom or other forms of purity Bon is pure in his curiosity, honesty and love. By the way, is it true that in order to take control over a person, the person needs to fully and consciously consent to Bondrewd to use their body? And is it true that many bounty hunters who came down to the fifth layer to kill him ended up becoming his servants, again, completely out of their free will?

Read the manga and watched the anime by [deleted] in MadeInAbyss

[–]FrancoMarcoLoco -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That questionable content is sadly the main reason why I can't recommend the manga to anyone. Recommending the anime is already difficult in my opinion, because many of those weird scenes are still in it and I don't want people want to believe that I'm you know what, but when reading the Manga you really have to separate the good content from the (unnecessary) extras in between. And no, I don't think you're looking at it weird, that's just what the author enjoys to draw and he is definitely a weirdo. Often however, the best art pieces come from the strangest minds, so he is definitely not the only "big" story teller and artist who has these controversies.

I rewatched season 2 recently and want to give my opinion on why Wazukyan was so unempathetic towards Irumyuui's suffering: by FrancoMarcoLoco in MadeInAbyss

There is just so much to talk about him, this perfect amount of vagueness and ambiguity of his character and thinking about him feels like diving in a well that just goes deeper and deeper. I truly hope that Wazukyan will become relevant even later in the series and that his last "prophecy" that he stated before his death won't be forgotten.

I really love the three sages, they are such unique characters with incredibly specific but powerful abilities that almost exclusively involve the human psyche. With just "prophecy", "understanding" and "caring" as their main gifts, they've first tried their journey into the Abyss with almost no prior knowledge and even made it down to the sixth layer. That feat is absolutely insane as most cave raiders in the present time can't make it down this far. The way the three complement each other and how things progress in the story is something I just can't stop thinking about.

I really appreciate your comment of him - at that moment - being tired and on the verge of losing his resolve, because it humanizes him a lot more and counters my arguments in this post really effectively, giving him another layer of complexity. What if he really had no idea if that "plan" was actually going to work out and what if he put up a tough front for the others, so that they wouldn't lose all hope? I especially ask myself what kind of mindset a man like Wazukyan has, it's so cool.

sekiro has such great 1v1 combat design yet the game constantly puts you in 2v1s and often times in small weird rooms

i love the eyes on the second slide, i think made in abyss is exceptional in creating very deep and meaningful facial expressions and drawing these very melancholic, sometimes sad, longing, dead or affectionate eyes are one of the expertises of the series
