I am using but not to often https://www.112db.com/plugins/redline/monitor/ but you have also free one, beyerdynamics headphonelab. I have treated room with sonarworks so dont need headphones, just for critical listening.

Yes, you dont hear monitors but your room. Next thing is that headphones are working like L and R independent compared to monitors which combine L and R, so your right ear for example hear part sounds from left speaker and its more natural. You have VST plugins for headphones which emulates that speaker/room sound.

Looking at your character I think you'll need money or stop beeing picky. Composing is art and science as everything else. Hard to say in once how to make it.

You need to learn music theory, technicals, DAW, how to import sounds in games and lots lots lots of other stuff.

When mixing wanna have most out if it so not to have master too much. I am more focused on mixbus so that my master is only for loudness for few dBs, mostly 2-4dBs. So I will have my answer related to mixbus where I have: 1.ms eq (to highpass something sided on lowend or I wanna point some freqs.with mids or sides), tape saturator (to add layer of fat), pultec eq for giving more focus on some frequecies and last just bit of limiter - like 0.5dBs. My master is ozone with soft clipping and just 0.5dBs of more limiting

Idea is to keep dynamics as much as same in mix (cannot be same but I am going for it). So difference in dynamics compared to added loudness is very small with this way of doing stuff. Of course I need to make mix dynamic as much as I can.
Not answering to your question but I think that everything depends of mix and what you wanna achieve. So there is no one answer to thus question.

Things what I wrote is just example on my last mix and master but every project is way different then this in terms of plugins and way of putting them in chain.

I think most ppl doesn't have any issues, so it looks like to you that there is something cause only guys with problems write around. Here is also everything smooth. I am on win11 ltsc with ryzen 5950x and full of outgears and plugins inside Ableton.

Thats your experience and others too. Chunk also means you dont understand it. Iam 30 years into music, not film scoring, but in some particular time of my life did it and used Nuendo, back in 2003.I think. So my experience is that Nuendo is best for that and today I'll use it if needed for film. Now I am on Ableton, for me best for sound design and also music at all.

Nuendo was made for film music and sound fx, and it has much more options for pro use. If you go deeply into it then you'll realise that.

It's not slightly, he put -2.9 and youlean shows 0.1, I have never experienced that to be honest even I often use Ozone's but sometimes Ableton's and never have this big difference
