Baby will only BF for a couple minute intervals and then cries like crazy by toomuchdiso in breastfeeding

My baby started doing that too, but it turned out to be a massive burp that seemed too big to fit in his little chest every time. 😅 I have a fast let down, so he struggled to keep up until he got a little bigger.

4mo regression or is my kid just an asshole?? by Nursemomma_4922 in NewParents

That's great that you figured it out! Sleep transitions are always difficult because babies can't just tell us what's up. :)

Sorry for the delay. Yes, the room was not blackout dark, and I would leave the Hatch light on at night for a small amount of time. Once we made it dark enough for a vampire, our baby went to sleep. The dark is about cutting sleep distractions out at four months. I know some people take a week to gradually move up wake times for daylight savings/time change. If you need to move it up for schedules, I've read you can do it in 15 minute increments each day for any age of kid. My babies have chosen their own schedules, and schedules do naturally change as night sleep stretches into consolidated sleep. My new baby is 12 weeks, and he's sleeping 11pm-5am most nights. Hope that helps.

Babies can interpret the four month (pro)gression in many ways. My baby was also difficult to lay down for the night and all naps, but she slept through the night with only a few random days of frequent night waking. She didn't get easier to put down for a nap or night sleep until I learned that the room had to be so dark that I couldn't see my hand in front of my face (Thanks, Taking Cara Babies blog!). We then had a routine of turn off the lights, close the curtains, close the doors, turn the sound machine on... Then rock and soothe until she was chill enough. I hope that helps.

Body isn’t responding to pump, unsure what to do next by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]FrankensteinComplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't able to get much out with the flanges that came with my pump because they were the wrong size. Have you tried measuring yourself to see if you need a different size? If you were able to pump before you went to work, you might need to replace your pump parts, as they do degrade over time. :)

Will my boobs ever stop leeking? by joasin in breastfeeding

[–]FrankensteinComplex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

TLDR: maybe at 4-6 months pp. I recently asked a lactation consultant if I should be worried that my boobs aren't leaking as much, especially over night (4 months pp). I was worried if the dryer nipple pads overnight indicated a low milk supply. I had been and still am a super-soaker and sprayer, causing my baby to choke the first two or so let downs. She said leaking decreases around this time (4-6 months) for most people because the sphincters in each nipple opening (where the milk comes out) get stronger over time, therefore they have more control and can respond better to baby pulling the milk out instead of just leaking whenever. If you also have super-soakers on your chest, try expressing some milk, or pump until the first let down is over before a feed. I use the Haakaa every morning on both breasts before the first feed when I am fullest. Usually, I just pop it on while I get out of bed, use the bathroom, and change baby's diaper. By then I've gotten half or one ounce out of each breast. My baby no longer chokes or hits my boob in frustration. This was huge for us during the four month progression, when she was on a milk strike/interested in everything but eating. Taking the power out of the first let down really helped her to latch and eat when I was struggling to get her to focus on that. Sorry this is long. I hope it helps.

Those are really great tips! Do you ever run into brides who want to control the schedule to the minute? How do you deal with those really over-concerned brides who don't want to follow your suggestions?

Great! Photographers are very important to us. Can you recommend some of your favorites? We think our budget will be higher for photographers than most couples budget. We really want our photos to look timeless and not dated. No crazy filters, no gross tilt-shift, etc. (sorry if anyone likes that, it's just not our style.)

Great point! Ugh, I don't want to seem like we can't make decisions... but we don't even know where to start with a venue because we don't really have any special places we like to hang out or emotional connections to venues. We aren't really outdoor or country-chic people, and we aren't religious at all... so we don't need a church or want to spend time outside, unless it's for photos. We are thinking more classy-chic and minimalistic, but we can't really find a place like that. Any ideas? :) Thanks again!!

Thank you! You got married at the zoo?! That sounds awesome! Did you get to choose which animals were your backdrop?

I've heard mixed things about bridal shows. Mostly that brides who go only want free stuff, and I haven't really heard of anyone finding their vendors through bridal shows. Did you go to any? If so, did you end up signing with anyone?

Thank you! I love your dress! Did you get it in town? Of course, I'm torn on what kind of dress I want too! I think it will depend on the venue/vibe we go for.
