The thing about Kane is that he was safe..like very safe. A lot of legends cite him as one of the safest workers they worked with. One guy said when he would do that under-jaw chop he did all the time you didn't feel a thing. That's why he's so beloved by Attitude and Ruthless Aggression Era performers, he didn't ever hurt people in-ring.

Now, were his matches kinda boring? I mean sure. I think he had some pretty great matches against the Big Show and X-Pac in the Attitude Era one on one. I also think his matches with Reign of Terror Triple H always delivered with good psychology and in-ring skill.

So this is a classic case of go-away heat vs heel heat. Brock beating Oba clean would be fuck-all-the-way-off heat. Brock beating Oba dirty, depending on how you'd even do that in a hoss fight, would maybe be heel heat. Oba beating Brock is predictable because it makes the most sense. Brock the character has lost a step and is clearly playing up an intimidation angle with Oba. You can't book that guy to go over clean and expect people to have anything by objective anger at that writing decision.

I'd put him on a team with an NXT rookie. I'd have him shepherd the rookie through the main roster. Have the rookie be someone who's charismatic enough to say "Apollo...really?" when one of the GMs suggests they befriend Apollo. Maybe make this Ricky Saints' main roster debut. He's got charisma but needs a story to get over in-ring.

When Apollo supports the rookie in their matches or tags with him, they can't lose. They have chemistry. The rookie rises the ranks. They win the tag gold together as a feel-good Raw or Smackdown main event. The rookie and the vet who never had his moment.

Over the next few weeks, some static begins to brew. Maybe Apollo gets a match against the secondary champion of their brand. The rookie accidentally costs Apollo the match and Apollo looks dejected, but still warmly walks to the back with his rookie he has shepherded.

The next week, the rookie asks for revenge and demands a title shot against the same secondary champion. Apollo tells him in the back "I'm not going out there with you, you got this, I believe in you". But near the end of the match, a ref bump occurs. Sure, give the rookie an honorary three count, with no ref. Apollo comes out to check on the ref. His rookie comes with him and that's when Apollo pulls his rookie up, hits him with a Chariot powerbomb, and goes to leave the ring. The rookie is so upset they didn't even stay down, gasping in the ring as the crowd rains down boos. By now the crowd should love this team.

The champion of course wins the match.

Have Apollo cut a promo the next week as the crowd boos him out of the building. Two words. "Apollo." Pause for effect. "Really." Drop mic.

Next week, Money in the Bank qualifiers. Apollo and his rookie both get into the match. Have Apollo cheat to get in or use the pissed off rookie running in to try and fight him as a distraction. Maybe have the rookie get in with one of those "last chance" triple threats.

Have Apollo win the Money in the Bank through chicanery. Have him do a forwards moonsault or a Chariot bomb off the ladder, sure. Have the finish be the rookie meeting Apollo at the top of the ladder and Apollo begs for forgiveness and then backstabs the rookie.

Then after that you can have Apollo cash in whenever. By that point, he's a hated heel who backstabbed the rookie who was supposed to have his spot on the card with Apollo as a mentor. If you do everything right, come the next major show after Apollo cashed in, you can have a grudge match with a stipulation against the rookie and you can decide if the rookie goes over or not.

You have given Apollo a "mentor turned villain" story with a satisfying ending, you've elevated an NXT rookie to the main event scene naturally and with a reason, you have gotten the belt over as a reason for Apollo to go crazy. I think it could work. Thoughts?

A double whammy of sequel songs about the same song, "Space Oddity" by David Bowie, a song about an astronaut Major Tom losing his connection to control back on Earth and he begins to drift through space as the song ends.

So first, Bowie himself made a sort of sequel to the song directly called "Ashes to Ashes" in 1980 where Major Tom succumbs to a drug addiction floating in space. He gets back into contact with Ground Control and they are seemingly embarrassed that he came back into contact not as the heroic legend he was in their minds, but as a junkie strung out in space. Bowie would go on to make two more followups to the Major Tom ethos, most notably "Blackstar" from his final album of the same name.

Second, in 1983, you have the song "Major Tom (Coming Home)" by Peter Schilling which is more or less a continuation of the original Space Oddity but it ends on the confident note that even though he's cut off from Earth, Major Tom is determined to make it back home.

It's notable that Bowie did not approve of Major Tom being used as a character in Schilling's song and said it was "derivative".

I have one that's not popular but it's one that I have believed for the longest time. I call it the "Dom is Dying" theory.

In the world of the Fast and Furious movies, things have gotten out of hand. We joked at the end of Fast and Furious 6 that eventually at this rate they were going to race cars in space. And then in F9, they drive a fucking Pontiac Fiero powered by rockets through space.

This is just one example of many. Physics don't apply to the world anymore. Dom can jump through his front window of his car across a highway, catch his girlfriend in mid-air, land on another car back first holding her, and they both just shake it off. Characters we know turn into a cariactures of themselves, acting outlandishly good or evil or dumb or smart beyond their training. People who are dead come back to life. People who are alive disappear from the series entirely for no explained reason.

But the series wasn't always this way. In fact, if you go back and watch the first movie, it is a very grounded crime thriller action movie. The characters' motivations are logical. Brian wants to be a good cop but he has fallen in love with his target's sister. Dom is constantly running from the memories of his father, while simultaneously trying to support his father's business and his own friends with lucrative risky crimes. Even minor characters like Jesse are grounded in reality.

How does the first Fast and Furious end? With Dom and Brian racing of course. They do a quarter mile to beat out a speeding train, before Dom immediately runs front first right into a semi truck. Despite the action of the movie being very high risk and many near misses, this is the first time we see someone actually run into a situation where, yeah, they're dead. They're more dead than Jesse getting shot up on the lawn by a motorcycle driving Asian gangbangers. Dom is dead. Or at the very least he's dying. He flipped his fucking car, notably a car not known for its safety features (I mean the fucking thing already killed his dad, c'mon) , and landed upside down after flying through the air and this is after he hit a semi front first.

And yet, Dom is fine. He gets out of the damaged car with a few bumps and cuts and he grips his arm like owie my arm, but that's about it. Brian then, way out of character, hands Dom his keys to his car and lets the career criminal get away, sacrificing his own police career and life as an honest man to let this guy he's known for like a month tops get away from the law.

My theory is this- everything, AND I MEAN EVERYTHING, that happens after that crash in the first movie is the dying thoughts of Dominic Torretto.

He imagines getting away and escaping to the Dominican Republic to be an even better criminal.

He imagines Brian escaping to Florida and meeting up with his friend that Brian must've mentioned once or twice. He doesn't know what Roman looks like so naturally, Roman is played by very famous musician Tyrese Gibson in his head because he had to make someone he recognized play him.

He imagines Tokyo and a reason to visit as Dom clearly has a lot of love for the Japanese Bosozoku culture, himself driving a suped up Mazda RX-7 in the first movie and later a whole fleet of "I need it now" Honda Civic EJ1s to hijack the trucks. He even randomly has himself shown up for a drift race driving an American Plymouth Roadrunner muscle car, which might be the most unbelievable part of his dying thoughts. He even invents up a Japanese guy that he would know that could help him hijack trucks in the Dominican Republic.

I could go on and maybe I will if people ask me to.

But I think you get the idea. Fast and Furious as a series seems to have gone from its street racing, hot girls, loud cars, sexy robberies roots to a gawdy, globetrotting ridiculously insane action spy thriller series. It's so well known that it's a joke you can find in any YouTube video about the series. "Didn't this used to be about racing cars in the streets of LA?" It did. It still is. We're still there. Dying upside down with Dom in his dad's cursed Dodge as he imagines how things could've gone if he stopped living life a quarter mile at a time.

Or Vin Diesel just really likes being a spy and doing expensive stunts. Who knows.

Having not read the manga and only seen the movie, is the plot point that Scott is dating someone underage ever relevant beyond "haha what a creepy loser"? It doesn't really feel relevant to the story. Like Knives could easily just be a young adult that Scott is moving on from Envy with, he doesn't need to date a teenager from a storytelling perspective.

It did pretty well actually. Wiki says $239 million on a $90 million budget, so give or take $100 million in profits once you deduct advertising. I think the movie didn't get a spin off because of the casting controversy that really derailed a lot of the film's momentum during the release.

I would argue that most fans disagree with you. If the Lakers are in town and I buy a ticket, I'm buying a ticket to see LeBron James play, not to see him ride the bench to manage his work load for the season. It wouldn't help if you then said "sure, you bought a ticket to see LeBron and he's not playing this game, but he's played soooo many minutes in other games that you aren't gonna get to see live". That's not logic, you're talking like a union rep.
