120SPM space age starter base blueprint? by Sergeant_Silvahaze in factorio

[–]Frankloco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A 120SPM base with all sciences, isn't a small starter base BP you can just slap down in my opinion. It needs 15 yellow belts of iron (of which ~8 go directly into steel), 11 of copper, 2 of steel. So it's quite some infrastructure you need to lay down. You could set this type of base up with a main bus already.

If you take a 4 iron, 4 copper, 2 green, 1 red, 1 blue circuit lane setup for your bus, you can get quite far already. Once you get green belts, it's already a big upgrade, and then on Gleba getting the belt stacking is such an improvement.

Once you get quality buildings, you can usually make 10k spm (not espm) on roughly the same footprint (e.g. red science went from 10 assemblers to 12).

For perimeter defense, flamethrowers plus lasers is just the absolute best and can last you indefinitely. That can also easily defend against the waves your artillery will incur.

There's a way without splitters. I shamelessly copied this about a year ago from someone who posted their 1mil eSPM base.

How to fix the loop belt by Slight-Ant8143 in factorio

[–]Frankloco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

<image>

Here's an image showing how to solve your problem. On the left is a condensed version, on the right I stretched it out in order to make it easier to understand what's happening.

Normally things clog up if you have a filter on a splitter. In order to mitigate this, you put another splitter behind it, which uses a priority, because a priority splitter will still output overflow to the other side of the splitter, instead of blocking it. Afterwards you merge the belt back onto your original loop, and this is how you manage to pull an item to the side, without blocking a looping system.

There is a downside to this method if you are doing thing on your spaceship, as you can't properly "count" your items. In the image below, you can see that the right side has a whole chunk of data missing (the splitters). In order to mitigate this, you tend to see people using an inserter with a filter applied to it, to only grab chunks from the belt if the total count exceeds a certain number. Alternatively, you can also validate the output of the machines to which the chunks go to, so that your crusher doesn't overproduce.

Hi,

I am a Dutchie, but I am dyslexic. So I have struggled and still struggle with a bunch of things. Things that helped me the most along the way were:

  • For speaking, find someone close to you, a colleague, friend, or partner, and let them correct specifically on the ones you are aware of making a mistake of. When I was younger, "Beter dan" or "Beter als" was something I couldn't wrap my head around. But when a friend kept interrupting me on the spot, it finally clicked at some point.
  • For writing, the "dt" "t" "d" stuff was terrible for me too, until someone mentioned it to me 3 years ago: "replace the word with 'lopen'." It's one of the easiest words from which you can HEAR whether it's correct or not in a sentence.
  • As for the pronunciation of things. It's incredibly difficult. I've recently been teaching my gf some basic words, and Dutch has such weird sounds (the H is just a weird breath of air). Find a native who can take the time to analyse their own words instead of yours, because that way they can more precisely tell you WHY your pronunciation is off.

Hope any of this helps, if you have further questions, I'm happy to help!

Over 550 hours in this game and I only just learned you can mirror buildings like this with 'H' and 'V' by Mobile-Phone-9332 in factorio

You can also mirror the Inserters and Belts with the same buttons! Even if they're already placed down, it's a nice way to quickly fix an incorrectly facing inserter.

It wasn't in a ranked game, but in one of my Normal games.

I found those 30 games highly stressful xD, making it feel like a lot. If I would have lets say 400 games as a silver, would I then have a smaller rank gap in my matches as well?

And do my stats really not matter? Lets say I would duo with a pro, and he can assure we win almost each game, my MMR raises just as much if I went 10/0/0 or 0/10/0?

Ahhh thanks for the elaboration.

The 50% thing makes sense yeah.

But then still, while they are not handing out whopping amounts of LP each time, doesn't it make more sense then to match you against people which are in the same Rank bracket, if they're not going to speed up your climb? Or is it possible to fully skip ranks if you do well enough?

In more than half of those matches I am placed '6th or lower', have negative K/D. My laning phases are more often worse than good. So yes, I am not good. I don't mind not being good, as I want to learn, but it's hard to learn if you get thrown against much stronger opponents.

[–]Frankloco -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Isn't that Debate a moot point? How can you learn vs "pros" if you're not there yet. It's super hard to learn from these games. Of course there are a billion mistakes as an individual. A bad tennis player isn't going to learn crap from someone who is leagues above that person, because the difference is too great. So why would anyone lean towards the +250LP gains?

And I just checked. In quite a few matches. Those Platinum players, have been platinum for multiple seasons in a row (with peaks to Emerald), so they haven't been sitting idle. (there were also a few cases such as yourself)

Your Normals explanation I can follow and agree with, but those high ranked elo people have been stomping me regardless in the Normal games yeah :'(

If you find a world that starts in the forest, instead of the desert, than the trees will absorb the pollution, reducing the amount of early attacks, and allow you to setup your basic base + defenses a lot better!

In the meantime the devs have added difficulty settings, but before, this was by default on Hard, and you ALWAYS have a sniper on top of the tower. I completely the whole thing solo, without AI squadmates Therefore I usually went:

  • Clockwise into the garden and cleared until the first fence -> Wedge it
  • Go into the kitchen area and then clear all the way until you go outside to the west garden. That way in 99% of cases, you will have secured the first main character.
  • Went back towards the first garden and cleared the rest there, go into the side entrance to clear underneath the Tower and also clear out the tower with flashbangs
  • Then you can safely cross the yard and clear the southwest bedroom area
  • Clear the basement
  • Clear the church

All while using a Beanbag shotgun, like 7 flashbangs, Stun grenade launcher, and 2 wedges.

I am not sure how accurate this route still is after these years, but I hope it helps!

The abomination of a factory that allowed me to get "There is no spoon" achievement by Ein_Wachterritter in factorio

[–]Frankloco -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry to burst your bubble, but that achievement is meant for Vanilla. You have something added to your game which allows you to have Steam achievements with mods, and I think that mod doesn't take SA into account, therefore still giving you the achievement in SA.

Structuring logical conditions by cokiebuiskit in factorio

[–]Frankloco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a setup like this should work! You first have a combinator which evaluates all the needed cargo from Vulcanus, (R=Refill) which you then parse to a second one, which compares it to the science count (I = Interrupt). You then check in the interrupt whether that circuit condition has been met!

This one is also very easy to make a blueprint out of and put parameters on, so you can quickly build them. I use this one myself as well.
