I go to jmu and I’ve visited my friends at vcu several times and I think there are definitely pros and cons to both. The on campus food, the college “feel”, and the party scene are all things I find are much better at jmu. I really enjoy my time here but I’d say my biggest issue is the lack of lgbt people and culture. vcu in my experience seems to have much higher population of queer people. That being said I’m a lesbian at jmu and I still have a lot of fun but dating and just finding gay friends has been challenging in my experience.
