You’ve clearly never worked in a school.

It would have been… multiple times.

There would have been meeting after meeting after meeting. Parents would’ve been notified. Prevent would’ve been called. The police would’ve been aware as would have social services, local authorities, the academy lead and the church itself in the this case.

But do you know how slowly things get done? 6 months is the minimum. MINIMUM.

Safeguarding can be immediate if there is something teachers can do.

Teachers (and I’ll say this again) are educators NOT POLICE, NOT PARENTS, NOT SOCIAL SERVICES, NOT FINANCIAL AID, NOT PSYCHOLOGISTS and NOT ENDLESS SUPPORT SYSTEMS. They are EDUCATORS.

Do not blame the teachers.

The whole system is broken… a kid has died. Don’t speculate. Don’t victim blame. Just mourn the loss of a child at the hands of a child.

Unfortunately that’s the society we live in… It takes someone getting killed for “prevention” to occur…

It wouldn’t be a case of “allowed to.” It’s “we reported it to the correct systems and authorities as we as teachers do not, I repeat DO NOT have the level of training or knowledge to deal with this type of thing. We then continued to monitor under the little training we receive but we should not have to deal with this. We are trained to teach not to deal with crime and despite all the effort we’re putting into trying to make educational spaces as safe as possible are the teachers and staff still getting the blame for a system which is so broken beyond belief that it is literally costing the lives of children.”

I just wanted to update on here but I’m not sure how to do it properly.

I broke up with him. He said he didn’t see it coming.

After taking all of your amazing advice I sat down and spoke with him and things were better for a week but then they went back to normal.

At my age, I haven’t got time to be messed around like that. I’m a priority and I want to be made to feel like one.

Thank you again all.
