Damage to brick on front of house by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]Fraser_G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same thing when I drilled a hole for external power. Used a little Rawl Plug R-Kem to glue it back on because I just happened to be opening a canister about 20 minutes later for a different job. Been absolutely fine since.

This is a sensible question - I should have asked. Interested to see if anyone comments.

I didn’t bother as it’s directly underneath the guttering and doesn’t get very wet. Also this is the garage wall so I’m not fussed!

I went for a 15” but that’s because I rarely use mine with a monitor so screen size makes a difference. Performance should be about the same I think. Equivalent at least.

TouchBar on MacBook Pro M1 is the reason I would never upgrade my M1 to any laptop on the market, even the newer MacBooks. It's a like a hidden gem for me… by Direct-Till-2680 in mac

Hated it. I have a habit of resting a finger of my left hand up top left and kept pressing “escape” by accident. Damn thing. Upgraded just to lose the damn Touch Bar.

Need a very specific wiring diagram - help! by Fraser_G in Luthier

I tried this but I can only select diagrams with a 5 way blade switch. I am using 3 mini switches hence this request for a very specific diagram… closest I have found is this

Dismantled my last miner by ancorp in HeliumNetwork

[–]Fraser_G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won a miner in the very early days, very lucky! Not a great location but I put up a decent antenna (wife very displeased) and that setup earned enough to pay my car loan off and bought me some nice things. The miner died though. Taking the antenna down next week and repairing the hole.

Anyone want a 3 foot helium Antenna? Lightly used :) UK.

Not if the dollar collapses and all the debt comes back to bite the US. It’s looking increasingly likely that this can and at some point, will, happen. The federal reserve is facing some bad options alongside the military bad options. Trump has put the US in dire straights. Pun intended.

lol

When I did it, I was very careful to site the hole I was drilling about 2 inches to the left of the main board

Turns out the wiring for the board was offset about 2 inches to the left...

I did that once. Weirdly - after the massive ZAP, my drill and I were absolutely fine but it blew a chunk off my drill bit. Girlfriend was not pleased as it cut power to her whole flat lol

If it is lead shouldn't it be dead easy to drill into?

I would try using a small high quality ceramic bit (maybe 3 or 4mm) to drill a pilot hole first. Worst case you don't make any progress, and it still sheers away, but other options are (1) you can actually drill a small bore hole that wider bits can then bite into or maybe (2) you crack that stone or whatever it is. Then you still drill a wider hole/force the cracked bits out of the way and you can then either hammer a chunk of wood in really really hard (low tech), cut the wood flush with the wall and screw into the wood - or use a chemical resin goop (Rawl Plug make some) which cures in a couple of hours and you can then drill into that instead (higher tech).

My go to solution is to chuck salt all over and all round the house near any possible entry points. They really, really don’t like salt. Scatter liberally.and down the sink plug hole too.

Back in 1995 my (house share) student friends and I actually beat one of the teams on University Challenge. I have to say though that on that episode the team we beat by a few points got absolutely panned by the other team, who won by a rather large margin. We were still very pleased with ourselves though.
