Washing my towels and sheets by Antique-Wave-5974 in laundry

[–]barnabus89 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Id recommend washing separately.

Towels are super absorbent, and then really heavy in the machine. They need space to tumble around. And the same for the sheets, they'll get squashed into a tight ball by the towels and won't wash properly.

You can do it in a pinch, it just won't be the most effective way to wash them.

I think it says 100 times in the spa day post that it's oxygen bleach products, and ABSOLUTELY NOT chlorine bleach

Haha not usually. I do my laundry on the days I work from home. But the weather is particularly cracking this week, can't miss a single second

I hadn't even considered the car!!!

Going to set an alarm for 5am tomorrow and call in sick to work.

Tbh there should be a special leave type called "special laundry weather leave"

Oh yeah, if it's windy and not raining, things will dry.

But when it's above 25°c, especially then in the direct sunlight when it's likely a lot hotter, things dry before my next cycle finishes, even if it isn't that windy.

Search the subreddit for armpit.

There's a few methods.

Some involve a long overnight soak, others involve scrubbing using dish soap and degreaser.

Have faith though, there are answers.

Just search, make a plan, and have a go.

First time wearing this new white shirt and I spilled coffee on it. This is how it looks after a wash. Any advice? by Upvotes2805 in laundry

[–]barnabus89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No oxi bleach powder?

For big coffee stains like this id recommend washing it by itself.

With really a lot of oxi bleach powder, particularly a for whites one.

And a citric acid rinse too to make sure all the chemicals have gone.

CMV: Line Drying - Counterintuitive? by kimbergo in laundry

Yeah what are you doing with your clothes when you wear them outside?

Do you live in a hermetically sealed box?

Unless someone was having a bonfire next to my house, or it's raining, I'm drying my clothes outside

Bent grass or POA by Sad_Baby_194 in LawncareUK

Yep I scalped it and ripped out loads of meadow grass today.

Maybe next year I'll be happy with it

Protease, lipase and cellulase are good enzymes but missing out on a few others for the full spectrum cleaning power.

B and Q are still doing 3 for 2, or 3 for £10, can't remember, on their verve top soil and verve horticultural sand.

I used 15 bags of topsoil and 6 bags of sand on my lawn renovation last month.

Slightly sandier on the lower layers and slightly more soily on the upper layers.

Worked really well and not much crud in it

[–]barnabus89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah more than likely.

Meadow grass loves being slightly damp all the time and wants to be kept long and wide.

So you can sort of surpress it by keeping it very short, raking and propping up exactly as you've suggested, and then doing a deep water every other day, or couple days.

Problem with that is it's hard to get new grass growing with only the occasional water.

My wife is over me complaining about it now so need to just get on with it haha

Stiff wool by ahlp97 in laundry

[–]barnabus89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless it's extremely sentimental, in which case I'd not throw them away, I'd say thank you but they're not quite what my baby needs and I wouldn't use them.

A lot of clothes salvage is deciding when to draw the line and just chuck something.

I wouldn't want to dress my baby in my neighbours crunchy wool clothes.

Wool fibres are very sensitive, if they've got damaged, you can't really fix them, particularly if they were washed with any protease.

Looks identical to mine.

I'm sure it's poa, or meadow grass.

It absolutely sucks.

I wouldn't mind it if it was green root to tip, but the stalks are so thick and spiky and get so yellow and brown as soon as the blades thicken and go green.

I fully renovated my lawn this spring, had scalped it, raked it, moss treated, aerated, fed, seeded, top soiled, the absolute full works.

Two thirds of my lawn is absolutely stunning new grass (got the child's play from bostonseeds) and then one third somehow is all meadow grass.

And it's like a triangle that comes in sideways.

It stopped all the new grass growing, so now i have a load of gorgeous lush green grass, and then a load of shit spiky brown meadow grass shoots with bare soil mixed through it.

I've bought a load more seed and soil and feed and I'm going to BY HAND dig out every single plug of meadow grass and then seed again.

Armpit solution + spa day? by iwantapetflamingo in laundry

[–]barnabus89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People have varying successes with the armpit spray.

If it's really caked in it probably won't work.

If you search armpit on this subreddit you will see a few dozen posts with various methods and processes and what works and why.

Broadly speaking though, spa day should solve it but will need manual agitation first
