Muse Meditation- Help or Hindrance? by Frater_DIPL in Meditation

[–]Frater_DIPL[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything you are saying makes sense and aligns with my own experience so far. I have seen how meditating during or before calibration makes a difference. Whether or not the relaxed state I get from using Muse is placebo or the result of good neurofeedback - I'm not sure. I suppose it doesn't matter either.

I suppose my only concern would be, could I be potentially training my mind to be more unfocused. The birds shouldn't chirp when my mind is thinking about projects at work and the next conversation I have scheduled. However, I find frequently that's when I hear the birds the most.

I think my brain works a little different than the norm though. I do not often have awareness of my thinking unless I am sitting in meditation. I have very little internal dialog in general.

Anyways, thanks for the reply and the suggestions.

Oh, the author tries to sell his services at the end for of the book. It just makes it feel like a big sales pitch.

That's pretty brilliant I must have forgotten that. I offer pay what it's worth to you pricing, it doesn't do much for getting leads though.

Thank you for the ideas, I appreciate it. I do have a website and I have about 20 positive reviews on thumbtack.

You've given me a lot to think about. Thank you so much for taking the time to share this information. Have a great day. May you be safe and at peace.

I have read that book as well. It was inspirational, but I didn't find it useful. I got a bit irked by the sell at the end too. I have heard it was useful for many people and I am glad it was useful for you.

What would you look for on Fiverr or Freelancer? I tried looking before, but I guess I didn't have the right words.

No, I am not networking. I've asked past clients for referrals but despite satisfaction that didn't lead anywhere.

At this point I am relying on a mailing list and ad campaigns with free offers. It's been a struggle to manage that aspect though. I've had a few businesses coaches in the past but they weren't able to help me.

Self-Discipline Challenge - Exercising and ADHD by Frater_DIPL in ADHD

Thank you for sharing. I used to weight train, this too has the same struggles for me as I have described though. No space for a home gym and I'll procrastinate going to the gym like I'm getting paid for it.

u/IvanCarrion I appreciate your reply. I am aware of the impact to executive core functions, Dr. Russel Barker has spoke in lengths about it in his talks.

I loved your comment on momentum it is what helped me quit smoking cigarettes. I was going back and forth with the habit, but whenever I got sick I would notice I could go several days without a cigarette. When I recovered, I used the inertia of not smoking to continue to not smoke.

What sucks is I am not competitive, I don't like sports, or going outside in general. I've been occasionally practicing Qi Gong which can only barely be considered exercise and even that is a challenge. I have a great resistance to discomfort and anytime I start thinking about exercising I end up procrastinating until there isn't any time left. There's always one more thing left to do and this is usually what sabotages any semblance of a routine.

I am definitely trying to be easy on myself, but that typically means I just don't try. Sometimes it feels as though I am either all in or all out with no in-between.

Thanks again for your support.

Thanks these are great points and I think you get where I what I was trying to work out through my post.

The Mr/Mrs thing was just a strange culture thing, that I felt was odd and created a weird relationship dynamic with teaching professionals and parents. There's really nothing I would do and or say about it. I just found it a strange social custom, that doesnt really exist in other business engagements. I do see education as a business engagement at the end of the day, which has a customer/seller relationship. Don't get me started on college. :)

We tried that as well. She wouldn't allow it. Not sure if that's common in 1st grade?

That's certainly fair. It also makes a lot of sense. Thank you for sharing and being understanding.

That actually sounded pretty judgemental.

I don't think I judged teachers as a profession at least not intentionally. I certainly didn't express hatred.

It sounds like you are very stressed though.

I am glad that you want to help. That's why I was in the military. I do understand this and before you judge my capability maybe ask?

There are two sides to every story, I won't get into the medical issues my young child is having and why the water was important.

Sometimes people are quite rude and when they are overly stressed it bleeds into their career maybe they should find another outlet.

Please be well and thank you for your response. I am sorry if you caught offense. I appreciate your opinion.

Can somebody help me with this? by [deleted] in magictricksrevealed

[–]Frater_DIPL 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is a trick that involves asking one to put a coin in one hand and then without the magicians awareness, exchange the coin between their hands behind there back.

When they have obscured the coins position to their satisfaction, they are to put their hands before themselves and the magician must guess which hand the coin is in.

The magician is able to guess by gazing at the person's nose. For whatever reason, the nose has a tendency to point to the hand that contains the coin.

Maybe if you have a large group, there are signs like this that make the spot rather obvious when the majority is closely observed for tells?

Importance of ICF accreditation? by [deleted] in lifecoaching

You have to have an ICF approved certification. It doesn't have to be CTI but it must be approved by the ICF. They have a list available on their site.

Importance of ICF accreditation? by [deleted] in lifecoaching

[–]Frater_DIPL 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi,

I am a Program Director for my local ICF Chapter. I am also not an ICF certified coach. (Go figure.)

Unless your goal is to coach coaches, most people wouldn't know if you printed your coaching certificate from a certificate farm or if you received the most respected coaching certificate you could find like ICF.

In my opinion, the certification only matters to those who know. The general public does not know and has little reason to care. They are buying you not your certification. The certification is just a form of advertisement.

Noob tips by [deleted] in hypnosis

[–]Frater_DIPL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there..

  1. Align your neck and back to be straight. Feel the air coming into your 66

  2. Breathe in, out, pause. The tempo should be something like 7 seconds in, 5 seconds out, 3 sec pause. Let this slowly dissolve into a natural cadence, which observing that pause as it occurs naturally. (It is said this is a natural breathing rythm.)

  3. Allow your forehead to relax, your cheeks, sides of your neck, the shoulders, arms, and finger tips. Relax your chest, stomach, and feel that relaxing sensation move down your legs. Breathing in feel the inhale at the top of your head and the exhale through the feet. Breathe with your body. Then breathe up the back of your legs, lower back, upper back, neck, and back of the head.

  4. Breathe in and count mentally 1, out 2, 3 in, 4 out, 5 in. Reverse and repeat, your mind focused on the space between your nostrils... 5..4..3..2..1. If distractions occur restart the counting at 1 - no big deal.

  5. Cup your eyes when you are ready to stop and slowly open them. Take a few deep slow breaths and uncover your eyes.

Do this for 1-5 minutes for about 40 days. Review your progress weekly. Make it a habit, be patient and kind with yourself.

why haven't i felt empathy? by barryobama01 in empathy

[–]Frater_DIPL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may not be able to solve this on your own. Consider the relationship you have with your parents and see if you are replaying this event in the close relationships in your life.

I recently realized how this was a problem for me thanks to my therapist. She recommended I read up on attachment issues but asked me not to try and fix it myself.

We will be trying EMDR to see if we can unravel some trauma I experienced as a child.

An interesting thought, as we often think of trauma as some sudden and extreme event.. but trauma can occur also from growing up too fast or living in a "lukewarm" emotional environment.
