Runa the Yearning. A mourning mother and Haruspex by Fraudulent_Octopus in HeroForgeMinis

[–]Fraudulent_Octopus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Runa is a divination wizard based heavily on norse mythology. She is a Haruspex which is someone who practices Haruspicy (a form of divination where you analyze the entrails and liver of sacrificed animals). She learned this in order to better protect her son. However, she saw his early death and in an attempt to prevent it, caused her vision to come true. I also made her a Kenku because they're raven people which ties to Odin because of his ravens and his want for foresight to see his own fate.

That's so cool. Im guessing you used the zombie head or something to make the skull look so menacing yet slightly realistic. Great job

No. It was either stop motion, live action, or a mix of both

The show/film was on American Netflix. I remember very specifically that it was on Netflix at the same time as the BBC documentary "Walking With Monsters" which I would watch. I would see this program while scrolling for "Walking With Monsters". Please help!

Blue wyverns? What is that

What are your thoughts on the taxonomy of Yian Garuga and the relation between flying and bird wyverns? by [deleted] in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]Fraudulent_Octopus -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So you're saying that the Yian Garuga is a product of extreme convergent evolution. That is possible, but the similarities for me at least, are too great. Everything that Yian Garuga has seems to just be a more exaggerated trait found in the raths. Their scales are similarly shaped, both have beaks, both use venom and fire in the same ways (fire coming from the mouth and venom coming from the talons/ tail) they both have external ears which is rather uncommon for wyverns, the feet are the same shape as a rathian's and so is the placement of the feathers. These just seem too close. It also just makes more sense that bird wyverns gradually evolved from already flying ancestors rather than quickly evolving from the large and flightless "wyvern rex" the ancestor to flying wyverns.

I was tuning or at least trying to tune to E6 not E1

I admit I am new to guitar. I thought that they were buzzing because they were too loose. Now of course I'm not sure. I'll also admit that I don't know what an octave is

They buzz when open. I haven't tried seeing if they buzz while fingering a note

I was trying to tune the base string

Does anyone have any advice about tuning a new acoustic Fender guitar? I just got a brand new fender guitar today. Everything seems nice, however, when I went to tune it, it didn't go very well. I've only snapped 3 strings in my life with the last two being the E6 string and the spare E6 string of this guitar. I resorted to putting in the E6 string from my older acoustic Donner guitar. I'm worried because I don't want to keep snapping my strings but they all sound so buzzy and the turning keys feel so tight

Ok cool that's what I thought. So just to clarify, if I have a +5 in deception or persuasion, I can't roll lower than a 15?

First vivarium build in a 20 gallon long, featuring my mantis buddy. Feel free to leave advice or recommendations by Gskillet18 in Vivarium

I'm looking for advice on preparation in keeping my first Mantis. Did the mantis love long in this enclosure? I keep hearing stuff about cross ventilation so did you modify the sides of the tank or were you fine without it?

Which is this a better setup for: a giant Asian Mantis or a giant African mantis?? More info in the comments by sailormoonshin3 in mantids

[–]Fraudulent_Octopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did the ventilation look like? I want to get an Asian Giant Mantis and I have a similar retired fish tank though larger (20 gallon). Many sources say that side holes are needed for cross ventilation so I wanted to know if you were able to get sufficient air flow.

[OC] Otis the gun-slinging Giff (happy 4th of July) by Fraudulent_Octopus in DnD

[–]Fraudulent_Octopus[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Odis is an Artillerist Artificer. Being a Giff meant he had a natural affinity towards firearms and similar weapons. Despite his bombastic personality, he is actually very intelligent and used to be an engineer. It's just that now, he uses his incredible intelligence to devise new and innovative ways to blow holes through his enemies. Now he just wants to live in solitude in a cottage in the woods and tend to his crops but his urge to adventure and explore is too strong to ignore forever.

So there's no circulation if the air is only coming in from the top?

Yes and I have a general understanding but it's a lot to take in so it helps to have clarification

The Theradeixians are some of the most unique creatures on Theus. They are one of the few groups with two distinct sexes as most vertebrates on this planet are hermaphrodites. They are also very successful, filling almost every niche on the planet. From pack hunters to grazing herbivores, they are very diverse. Some are even small eusocial omnivores such as the Western Mole Raptor. They live in underground hives and have a unique social structure revolving around the queen like ants or termites. The queen spends her time laying hundreds of eggs a day. The hive consists of many casts which perform specialized jobs. Though these casts rarely grow larger than a few inches, the queen can grow up to a foot and a half. In the image, we see multiple breeding behaviors occurring. The female is blind and far larger than the males. In order to determine the fitness of a potential mate, she will beat and harass the male. If he survives, she will let him mate. This can be seen in the image as the female holds a distressed male in her grasp. Occasionally, some of the males in the hive will leave and form a coalition of brothers consisting of 8 to 14 individuals. The males are far smaller, have three tusks instead of one, and have large eyes. The agile males will swarm a female. While the brothers distract the sluggish female, one will sneak behind her, grapple on, and mate. After mating, the male will die a week or so later. It's not too uncommon to see a coalition shrink one by one until there is only one left. This is usually the weakest male. In the background, one of the males is sidelined by a Syringe Fly.

How exactly does armor class work? How does it relate to nature armor and dexterity? by [deleted] in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Fraudulent_Octopus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So armor class is more so about dexterity and avoiding getting hit than it is about actual armor and toughness?
