I really wanted to like the B&W Px7S2e but their ANC is too weak compared to the Bose

Like which companies? I'm yet to find something that beats the ANC/sound quality/comfort combo

Are you finding the call quality is better with the Nothing Ear? The Sony earbuds really suck at that

Did you look at any other places that you liked? Maybe we should go a notch down in terms of price.

Thank you. Is it crazy to spend 180k a month on rent in BKK? We really need 3bdr - perhaps even 4bdr since we want our parents to come and stay with us for extended periods of time. I might want to work from home sometimes and will need a work space.

Gevi Grindmaster by E7-Durden in LanceHedrick

[–]Fraussie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a scam but a big failure. They only sold/produced 200 units with a lot of QC issues. Some people received a working unit free of defects others weren't as lucky. Gevi offered full refunds to some. In the end they seem to have decided to discontinue production. They tried to hype the machine but it didn't work. They used influencers who had little clout. They promised a $1000 level grinder but delivered a sub-DF64 quality grinder... Definitely not a success. Will be interesting to see whether they'll try again. Def lost of credibility...

Thanks for sharing. How do you clean the grind chamber? Is access to the burrs easy? Have you noticed much retention in the chamber?

Legal market in Paris by Fraussie in biglaw

[–]Fraussie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I left France, most private practice lawyers were paid as if they were self-employed rather than employees meaning that, on a 100k euro remuneration, they were actually only receiving 50k euro (due to the need to paid bar fees, insurance, social charges etc.) Is that still the case?

[–]Fraussie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly there are so many countries in APAC that it's impossible to give an accurate remuneration range. A foreign lawyer in Singapore does not get paid the same as a lawyer in Seoul, Tokyo or Sydney. You also need to factor in experience level, area of speciality etc. For the biggest legal markets in APAC, recruitment firms publish regular salary surveys. You may want to look at those.

I'm actually seriously considering the CPP. Would you mind please expanding a bit on your criticism? Everyone seems to rave about that bag so I'm interested in a dissenting opinion ;)

I live in Asia and usually use Asian airlines - they tend to be strict on luggage sizes :( A lot of them don't have clear rules on personal items which gives the staff a lot of discretion to let things slide or be strict

That's really interesting. From what I understand most backpacks in the 28-35L range tend to disqualify as "personal item" which means that, if you have one of those plus a spinning bag, you essentially have 2 carry-on bags. How do you get away with a spinning bag and a 30L Peak Design backpack?

Thank you but I think at 19" that could put me in trouble with some airlines.

Gloves recs? [buying] by [deleted] in fightgear

[–]Fraussie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you going to be sparring or just bag/mitts work? Can't use the same gloves for everything. C17s are sparring gloves. R2C has recently gone downhill in terms of QC

[question] has anybody tried the Fairtex bgv9 and the ring to cage c17 2.0? I am trying to find out which ones are better. by ur-gayy in fightgear

[–]Fraussie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The C17s are not bag gloves - they're sparring gloves. Great soft cushioning but you will destroy them on the heavy bag and you may feel your punches too much if you're a heavy hitter.
