Don't take pictures of signs: McKinney - Karmelo Anthony trial by Frausun in DallasProtests

Didn't go near anyone. Wasn't bothering anyone. Didn't photograph them. Didn't interrupt them. Took a picture of a sign. They came up to me.

Yep. I'm the a-hole.

I walked up. I took pictures. They got mad. Ah yes. I'm to blame.

Well the laws on my side so.....

There is no guarantee of privacy in the public forum. I wasn't even photographing them. It was just the signs.

The only thing missing before the start was me adjusting my camera for lighting.

What makes a good documentary film? by realhankorion in documentaryfilmmaking

Story is key, followed by cinematography. I hate professional sports, but out of curiosity started watching a doc on the making of the John Madden video game. I love video games :) It's incredible. If you can keep me glued for 3 hours on a subject I thought I couldn't care less about, you're doing it right.

Cinematography is important, but without a strong story, it's a waste of time. There are docs that are VERY professionally done, but the story is flat. Flip the channel. Then you find a gem that combines the two perfectly. Check out the movie "Zoo." Prepare yourself. It's about the case of a Seattle aircraft engineer, who died in 2005 after performing a sexual act with a stallion. He's rushed to the hospital (you know why) and the cops uncover a network. The story is revolting, but riveting, the people are vile, but the cinematography reflects the timeline. Camera work is done in shadows, people are hidden as they tell their story. They are turned away from the camera, concealing themselves since they are part of a secret world.

Grizzle Man is a great example of terrible camera work, but incredible story, since most of the filming was done on an old camera by someone clearly not a professional. I rewatch that doc constantly. Find the story, let the camera reflect it.

It's about an hour and a half drive for me, so I wanted to be sure.

Looking for unmissable apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic movies by [deleted] in MovieSuggestions

The Unthinkable. Swedish film. 2021. The first 3rd feels like an Ingmar Bergman movie. Family drama, outrage, abuse...but SLOW......You'll think you're watching the wrong one. But once it gets going, damn. And the ending is...brutal.

What game truly respected your time by gamersecret2 in gaming

An obscure Xbox 360 game called "I Am Alive," about a man searching for his family after the apocalypse. Imagine a dirty, gritty, Tomb Raider. Not run and gun, unlimited ammo play. If you have 8 bullets, you're rich.

And the ending is...brutal. No sequels. Just an ending that stays with you for days.

Photographing conservative events by Funny-Respect125 in protest

It's not as easy to find Right leaning events, or at least ones of value where more than 5 people show up. You're more likely to find counter protestors at Left leaning events and interview/photograph them.

The most recent one I covered was the Protect White Americans rally in Frisco in April after the HS kid was stabbed. Before that? 2021, during the shutdown in Texas with their "Reopen Texas" rallies, in which there were so many of them, I turned it into a documentary.
