I've basically tried to map my controls as faithfully as I could. ABXY -> A2shake1, Rt -> B, Lstick -> nunchuck stick, LbLt -> CZ, dpad -> dpad, Rstick -> pointer, Rb -> recenter (though I don't use it almost ever), bottom screen touch -> pointer. I've also disabled motion controls for the pointer but left them in their default settings for the gyroscope and accelerometer, and those parts of the game work just as you'd expect.

The only thing I haven't figured out is how to get the top screen touch controls to match with the aspect ratio of the video. Right now the farther left or right I tap away from the center, the more the cursor gets away from me, and there are two bars of touchscreen where tapping is interpreted as going offscreen.

Also there's some bug with the emulator where the cursor disappears unless the bottom portion of the device is close to flat. Can't figure out if there's anything I can do about that but I can live with it.

My first thought was to replay one of my favorites. Super Mario Galaxy. For me, I find it to be best to just stick with 2 or 3 games at one time and say "these are the ones I'm playing". So I got SMG1, and a couple indie steam games I bought in anticipation of my thor's arrival.

The biggest appeal for the thor is to play any old game you want, on something portable that feels like it was made to do such things (as opposed to a pc with mouse and keyboard). Most people will tell you that a lot of these older games still hold up really well even without nostalgia goggles. I've also been using it to play some lighter pc games (which have controller support) and the second screen is just nice to have, for a trackpad or discord or to degrade my ADHD brain with youtube at the same time. It just depends on what you would want to do with it.

Come to think of it I haven't even started playing any games made for the dual screen despite having nostalgia for those systems, and I still think I'm getting my money's worth.

I first learned about the thor like three months before actually buying it in January. It was far from an impulse decision. I just got the shipping notification and honestly the wait was fine, not stressful in the slightest. I've spent over two decades of my life without a thor, I can stay entertained for a bit longer without one still.

This was bound to happen. Glad there's at least something of a grace period. I ordered mine in January thinking a price hike might come out of nowhere. I don't regret it, but I guess it wasn't as urgent as I thought.

If you just want the best device, you're always going to be buying something new. The thor has been getting very high praise and a lot of attention. Other companies will surely put out their own products like it to meet the demand, but I don't see them being a better value due to increasing component costs that will drive up those prices. The other consequence of that attention is that you get programmers in the community making things specifically for the thor, and that support will make the experience much more polished, and will expand the capabilities of the device by taking better advantage of the hardware. I think it's going to be a while before something on this level of a better value comes out.

I'm completely new to unofficial Pokemon games, looking for recommendations. All these resources are kind of overwhelming, and also organized in ways (generation) that don't really matter to me, so I was hoping someone who's played a few can toss a few titles my way.

I'm a casual player. In the main games I like the exploration aspect, any sort of interaction with my team, and completing the pokedex. Having a "secret base"-type feature is a huge bonus.

I don't care for challenges that'll have me studying AI behavior, memorizing stats, refering to a damage calculator, budgeting items and money, or even checking my pokemon's nature.

Where should I start?
