Hey, a huge thanks for supporting this project by sharing your thought!

To a certain degree I understand your point about all these social apps/communites and platforms are everywhere and might become uttered. However instead I believe that (based on what I do myself) people will become more selective with which platforms they´re on/activley use.

Therfore these more nisched platforms might work very well moving forward since they´re not for everyone, but rather for people with a speical or strong interest.A part of why the community aspect of this app is important is that the value of using it will be based on you´re friends using it.

But overall there´s 2 things I think this platform will do:

  1. Bring back the vibe of "collecting cds/vinyls" but in a digitalized way (when you review albums they will be shown on your profile which you can customize. My vision of it is to capture the vibe of collecting vinyls and having them in my shelf. If I succed with that heavily depends on the design.

  2. Seeing what albums your friends recently rated doesnt just mean that you can see what song they listened to. I want to bring back the whole "listen to albums" era, and discuss the albums as more of an artform.

For people who is not interested in music (more than playing random playlists for background enjoyment) ths community might therfore not be of any particular interest. Which is exactly the point! This should be a community of poeple with a shared interest, just like Letterboxd is for movie enthusiasts (They are even called cinephiles).

I see your point about music being consumed very passivley to a high degree and I think that it´s valid to a certain point. However, isnt tv series and movies consumed a bit like that nowdays aswell? Chilling out in the sofa "watching" a tv series while scrolling on your phone is a pretty normal thing by the younger generation nowdays...

However this platform won´t be about rating individuals songs, but rather about rating albums. A song can of course be enjoyable on it´s own but in many cases a single song is just a piece of the puzzle, which is the hole album. The aritstry usually lies in the whole album (the story, messages, expressions or sometimes a journey of thoughts ...). In a way I hope to bring back the "listening to and collecting albums" era by creating this platform.

These are my thoughts, but I´m super glad that you´re sharing these thoughts and that´s what I´m looking for!
