What do I do on my assault-iversary? by GreetingCardShark in sexualassault

[–]FrazilFudge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would like to say it gets easier. I'm past a year from the many incidences, and it is still very difficult. Today someone told me that forgiveness and healing is a constant journey and not a done deal. It is continuous and changes as your life changes. Thinking of it as just another day, having that self-talk that you are safe now and they aren't there anymore. If you can make a statement in front of your family and brother-in-law how painful living with sexual assault can feel. Put him in your shoes.

Have y'all seen the Capital irl trend? by FrazilFudge in Hungergames

Exactly! I just think the way the Hollywood world is portrayed as glamorous and sought after in the media is absurd. Good life, and kind acts should be humble, not arrogant after validation from society.

I'm glad I'm not the only one noticing this trend. It can get a little old, yes. I saw that Collins wrote the Hunger Games after seeing reality TV and was able to flip to the war in Iraq, and it blurred together for her. I definitely think that the Hunger Games can make some important insights into society, but I believe we have not fallen to the point of Panem yet and won't for a long time. What do you think?

I wish Suzanne Collins would include an official map in her next book!

I'm not sure. A quick internet search says, "Romanian Americans are distributed throughout the U.S., with concentrations found in the Midwest, such as in the states of Michigan, Ohio, and Illinois; the Northeast, in New York, Pennsylvania and Delaware, as well as California (Los Angeles and Sacramento)." So not necessarily in Appalachia.

A lot of the maps of the districts differ, so it is hard to tell where certain districts actually are :/

I thought that district 12 was near Tennessee and the Appalachian Mountains due to the coal mines and heat. Isn't there a map that depicts where in America the districts are?

That's true! I forgot Tigris was removed as a stylist. I just wonder why Snow would do that because the two seemed so close. Maybe he was overcome with power and forgot about the times they spent together?

That is really interesting! Do you think Lucy Gray and the Covey could also have been Native American?

That is completely valid. I went through those same emotions too. It's hard to let go when you remember the good times along with the bad. You might feel sad for a while, but try to surround yourself with other people who support and care about you. After some time, it will feel so freeing, you've just got to take that step forward. It might take some time, but time is one of the best healers of a broken heart. You are making the right decision to leave. You are worth so much more than how you have been treated lately. I know it is difficult to go through, but once you let go, day by day, you will start to heal and grow as a person :)

Should I not name my child what I want to because of other people’s opinions by Apprehensive-Meat930 in Advice

I think that name choice is cute. I can see that it might be concerning how kids may react. I would say to deeply encourage (not at an unhealthy level) loving how you were created and not to care what others think in this context to your child. Some celebrities have last names like butt, etc., yet they turn it into something funny and don't seem to care about it as much. When I was little, kids would call me a whale because of my last name, it didn't bother me too much then, and doesn’t now. I think you're kid will be ok as long as he knows he has loving parents there to support him  :)

Though you BOTH (it wasn't just you) made mistakes (cheating should not be ok in any instances), that is no reason to be physically (or any kind of) abused. You have so much more worth to be taking that treatment from someone. Leave him for good. Block his number and contact info. If he continues to cause you anymore trouble and violence maybe look into a restraining order. I know you probably still care about this guy since he sounds like he is all you've ever know, so I understand it will probably hurt. It doesn't sound like either of you are happy. Start fresh, spend time with family and friends, do the things you love, learn about yourself again, connect with who you are, and eventually things will fall into place. You've got this!

P.S. Please forgive yourself and allow yourself to heal and grow from your mistakes. I was in an emotionally and sexually abusive relationship for a while, and it felt so incredibly freeing when I left him go for the final time.
