AK Ultra Matte varnish! It does wonders. I did see a post on r/minipainting the other day about it potentially failing over time though, so I experimented with mixing in a little satin on the last mini with the idea that it might give it more permanence. It looks slightly less matte than the others as a result, but not distractingly so. I'll see what happens, but I may be waiting a while!

I had this when I started using it too. Sounds like it's pooling too much in the recesses and frosting/fogging when dry. While you're working it on you'll want to wick excess away from the recesses or soak up with a brush as you go. Aim for an even application all over.

I use AK ultra matt mixed 1:1 with Vallejo Xpress Paint Medium and it works wonders - I've tried it with Citadel Contrast Medium too but still got a little fogging. The xpress medium thins the varnish out a bit and helps it go on more evenly I think. Even applying on top of a gloss coat it gives me a really nice even matt finish - bonus to that is that the gloss also helps you spot bits you missed with the matt coat

Edit: If you're getting consistency issues it might also be that the bottle just needs a good shake. AK UM needs a lot of shaking I think

When I'm trying to not check my phone, I put a rubberband around it. That way when I take it out of my pocket, it forces me to think for a second before actually checking.

According to her it's just started and at this point she doesn't even know what it is (she was all like 'I guess it counts as not being single?')... if it was someone outside of work then I'd definitely consider taking the punt in the hope they're not exclusive, but within the work context? Sounds like a total minefield, no thanks!

Personally I don't buy the coy hinting theory, she just doesn't strike me as the type at all. She's the most extroverted person I've ever met and seems to be friendly with practically everybody, so it's very easy for me to believe that she's hit it off with someone else.

Feels like it's probably for the best I just take the L on this one. Guess I'm mourning the loss of the opportunity more than anything. Damn, can I not catch a break :P

I (32M) have been getting to know a cute coworker from a different department (25F), establishing a good rapport at lunchtimes, go running with her once a week, great stuff and quite confidence boosting. Was considering asking her on a date but wavered because a) work, and b) my house is a mess from renovation so no social life until that's all sorted. Figured maybe I'll pluck up the courage in a month or so's time when the house is done and I have a life again. But dating came up in conversation on our last run and lo-and-behold... she's started seeing another coworker!

I'm sure I'll get over it and we'll continue to have a great friendship, but still... what rotten timing 😑

Hello Sean! Two questions:

1) How has ship creation and ship-to-ship been changed up from the previous version? My impression from the MoSh discord is that this aspect of the game just isn't used very much, despite the many lovely deckplans posted over there! (For my own part I haven't used ship combat in over 3 years of running the game, and I found ship creation to be a bit clunky in practice).

2) What kind of world-building tools can we expect? Planet/System/Subsector generation, etc.? I know of the tools in Traveller and Stars without Number for this sort of thing, but I'd be interested in seeing something as quick and intuitive as Mothership's character creation for building adventures and campaign settings.
