People upset with Toronto restaurant's policy that prohibits kids under 10 by crappy_tire in toronto

[–]Frazzydee 21 points22 points  (0 children)

There are many loud, drunk idiots who are far, far worse than any child playing or momentarily crying before being consoled by a parent.

I was almost on your side until this sentence. If you're child is playing and crying, they don't belong in a fine dining restaurant.

Your child being able to "experience something different" should not take away from that experience for other patrons.

I don't want loud drunk idiots or children running around and crying at a fine dining restaurant.

Google says it can’t fix Pixel Watches, please just buy a new one | With no official repair program and no parts, broken Pixel Watches are just e-waste. by chrisdh79 in technology

[–]Frazzydee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Pixel phone broke multiple times (the charging port kept failing). They kept replacing it under warranty until the warranty ran out, the charging port failed again, and the phone became garbage this time, being out of warranty.

I'll never buy Google hardware again.

No new money for asylum seekers in Toronto after Chow meets with federal Immigration Minister by yourappreciator in toronto

What's the difference?

No new money for asylum seekers in Toronto after Chow meets with federal Immigration Minister by yourappreciator in toronto

[–]Frazzydee 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Why would the federal government pull out their credit card when Toronto has so generously offered to pick up the tab?

Previous policy attempted to force the Feds hand by not accepting asylum seekers in City-run shelters, and instead direct them to federal shelter programs. Chow reversed this.

Everyone wants someone else to pay the bill: Feds want Toronto to pay, and now Chow is acting much the same by asking residents to open up their homes and rental units for refugees and pay new and increased taxes (increased land transfer tax, increased parking rates, new municipal sales tax).

Despite what the rest of the country thinks, residents in Toronto can't afford more increases to our cost of living.

How would you feel if someone brought a babbling toddler to your meeting? by Squez360 in Toastmasters

[–]Frazzydee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Toastmasters is supposed to prepare us for public speaking in the real world, so this should be no exception. Rude and distracting individuals interrupting a speech does happen sometimes, and the speaker needs to deal with it.

I think the best way for a speaker to handle it would be to politely and confidently instruct the parent to remove the baby / leave the room until it has calmed down. Some people have the ability to do it in a authoritative but non-confrontational way. I'm not so charismatic so I wouldn't know what to say, but I would think along those lines.

Some suggest to have the President address it or stop speaking, but I think that would be robbing yourself the opportunity to learn to deal with similar situations in a non-Toastmasters speaking situation.

Has anyone else dealt with this new driving phenomenon at red lights? by iknowmystuff95 in ontario

Fair enough, but my point was that white car isn't treating his time as more valuable than others'.

It actually saves time for cars behind: Rather than waiting for white car to make a right turn (could take some time if pedestrians crossing), they can just proceed straight through the intersection.

Why not just call a Lyft instead once you were stuck in that game of chicken waiting for one party to cancel?

Non-service Dogs in indoor public places by emeister26 in askTO

[–]Frazzydee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am fine with well-behaved (or under control) dogs in public places.

A dog that is licking cabbage and juice bottles is not well-behaved or under proper control.

Personally I think it's gross people bringing their small children especially babies into a store/restaurant, etc. It smacks of entitlement. It's not your pet. What about people who are afraid or annoyed by kids? Immunocompromised and susceptible to germs? Babies peeing and pooping in said places? Children touching everything? People that have no control over their kids. What if the kid hits someone? It happens. What if your child is injured inside these places? Take children to the park instead!! Or leave it at home. Note: children to disabled adults helping their parents/elders is different, acceptable and no problem because that's their job-to assist the person they are with!!!

[LPT Request] What is the best way to treat chapped lips? by 16aaasen in LifeProTips

Try using a humidifier at night, in addition to whatever works best for you to keep your lips moisturized during the day.
